In a 30s radio installation book it said ( for reasons of radio interference), build up or move contacts to get 0.005 gap

A larger gap increases firing voltage for the spark plugs, a larger rotor...

If the grease gun is made to use cartriges the piston is smaller to fit in the cartrige, try it with empty grease cartrige

If they are good now most likely they will be damaged in removing them, the seal should be able to be changed without disturbing the bearings--- what did the shaft on the old sector look like

for something like that I would trace with sharp pencil, then cut with scalpel or new xacto knife, have leather punch pliers with assorted sizes along with gasket punches both homemade and factory
