Re: 1933 door latch help

I believe the washer with the square hole is located where the outside handle goes into the latch. These two washers allow the handle to be installed by compressing the latch while inserting the...

Re: Question on 1936 Rumble mat fit

Kube, I agree that the mat was not "original" as you say and all I was saying is that Ford made the mat and it was not a "reproduction" by another company, like we have today.

Re: Question on 1936 Rumble mat fit

Don Rogers and I have confirmed that the black trunk mat that I have is for a 36 Ford Coupe and was made by Ford (Ford script on the mat) as a replacement in the 40' or 50's, since the original was...

Re: Question on 1936 Rumble mat fit

I have an original black floor mat that is too brittle to install in my car, but the "rumble seat rear floor mat" advertised was shown in the old catalogs as for the rear of a Phaeton and not a...

Re: '40 Disk/Drum brakes, no rear brake problem

I would ask how you are bleeding the brakes? I have found that with dual chamber master cylinder, you need to pressure bleed at the master cylinder or vacuum bleed at each wheel cylinder. Using the...

Re: 1936 trunk handle lock - Need help

Just a comment regarding the trunk handle. My 36 Ford 5W Coupe has the handle in the horizontal position and the lock works fine.

Re: Original 1935 parts help

DavidG, the 36 Ford gas cap does not need to be vented, since Ford provided a small vent pipe on the filler neck that was not used in 35 Fords that used a hydrostatic fuel gauge.

Re: 1935 Ford Floorboard Patterns

You can use the wood floor boards for 36 Ford sold by many vendors. Note that the original 35 Ford driver's side floor board was made from fabricated sheet metal and not wood. Only important if...

Re: 36 roof insert question

There may have been some material installed in the channel to account for irregular surface, but not a sealer as such from the Ford factory. Don Rogers has provided a detail of the seal strip...

Re: 36 light switch body problems

I do not believe the phenolic plate is a problem, except the holes for the brass switch plate to stop have an edge to sharp that causes too much pressure on the horn rod to be able to turn and index...

Re: 36 light switch body problems

I have found that the reproduction switch plate does not work very well. You can see the difference if you compare to original switch.

I believe the switches were the same through 37, but in 38...

Re: 1935 Coupe trunk hinge disassembly

The cap on the hinge pin has 4 small tabs. Use a screw driver to pry off the cap, and the pin can be removed.

Re: 1940 interior Door trim clips; not door panel clips

If these are wire type clips like those I used on my 36 Ford for that same application, then check with Restoration Specialties and Supply, Inc.
