Check the sending unit for clogged tubes AND small cracks in the brass cups. Clean well and solder cracks . Works well .

Start by getting the REPAIR manual. Read it well. Then put brake rods on the car ! That is the parking brake. Cement blocks in front of the wheels works too. You need to understand the handbrake...

Be careful WHO you listen to. I have done four hydrostatic gauges and all were just dandy. The sending units can be repaired easily, gauges too.

That is not a propane tank. It is acetylene for the headlamps. A full tank lasts a long time. A valid accessory on that car. Your 1914 Ford could use an acetylene tank as well
