Re: 5.50 x 19 Radials

I’m a little late to this conversation. My wife is getting me some 550R19 radials for Christmas. She’s ordering them from Summit. I’m reading the conversation on metal stems versus rubber stems...

Re: Car shows

I love going to shows to see my Model A buddies, but I am more of a driver than a shower. At shows people sit on your fenders and stand around wanting to tell you about their muscle car they are...

Re: Words of wisdom for first "long" trip

I did an 1100 mile trip the end of last summer by myself. In Alaska we each carry a club roster with everyone's name and contact information on it in our cars. I've never had to use it but if I...

How many Model A's is the perfect number?

You can only drive one Model A at a time. Two cars are twice as much money to buy, twice as much to insure, take twice as much space to store and take twice as much time and money to keep up. We're...

Re: road speed question

48 mph. I get great mileage and my engine lasts many many miles. Its not just about how fast it will go, its also about how fast it will stop and perform an evasive action if needed.

Re: Car trailer size-- 16 foot or 18 foot?

I wanted to follow up on my post. i think the suggestions given were sound. I did go with a 20 foot enclosed. I upgraded to torsion axles and more interior height. I also upgraded the flooring to...

Re: Question for the Alaskan A's...

I think Carl hit the nail on the head.
Mine happened to come from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Re: To the vertically endowed.... question on mirrors and seats

I ordered the seat springs and backrest that's made for tall guys. I'm 6'2 and it worked out well for me. Not as comfortable as the cars but way better than stock springs.

Re: What's your favorite year and why?

I like the 30-31 because they have a bigger radiator. I like the looks of the 28-29 a little better but the 30-31 get my vote.

Re: Trailer for a Model A

Speaking of width-- is 7 wide enough? I guess the advantage of a 7 would be that they pull a little nicer and you can more easily use your rear mirrors to see what's behind you.

Re: What gear ratio do I have?

Mr. Cheep,

5 mph gain is pretty good when on club rides you are always about 5 mph slow. By the time I get to the pie stop all the good pie is gone.

Re: What gear ratio do I have?

Thanks Tom. 2250 RPM's = 48 mph. 16 inch wheels. Might be time to look into some higher speed gearing from Snyders. Is there a chart or formula to see how many mph I might gain? I wouldn't mind...

What gear ratio do I have?

I was reading a thread earlier today on figuring out gearing ratios. I can't seem to find it now. Forgive me if this is a re-post.

I lifted one rear wheel and cranked the handle exactly 15...
