I would try sanding the area of the crack. Then rough-up the area with a scribe and apply some JB Weld. It's very gasoline resistant and will bond very well with the tank metal.

You may want to consider the new Model A engine designed and sold by Terry Burtz. His block doesn't include the valve train, but it is a brand new engine. I would seriously consider that option.

If you have adjustable lifters, the best method is the "Rule of Nine" method.

Number valves from front to back 1 through 8.

It is fairly easy to determine when a valve is at the top of its lift...

The 3X plugs are the best plugs (IMHO) for the Model A. They can be gapped on the side of the electrode with no performance problems. Remember, this is a very low compression, low HP engine.

The new "B" floats are all supplied by the same manufacturer and they don't fit without modification. I would try to repair the original float that you have, or see if you can get a used "B" carb...

Here is a photo of a tail pipe hanger I made for my 30 CCPU. The tail pipe is at the same height as it would be with the original clamp.
