i have taken several apart, and never been completely successful with the odometer action. they seem to need to be "timed" when installing the stack of wheels. mine always would trigger the next...

i have never been inside of one, but i would guess due to the era built they are of the sliding gear type, and not synchronized.

you will see 2 little tiny cups, like miniature frost plugs on the main housing, use a small tap, like 8/32 or so, pull the caps and give'er a drink of a couple drops of 3n1 or light oil. best wishes

i love bicycles. used to have about 40 vintage bikes all picked up at the junk yards in the 70's-80's for about 5 bucks. sold them all recently for aprox 100 a piece. some were junk, some were rare....

looks like it would bolt onto the 4 backing plate holes on the spindle and has a fine thread screw to press out the king pin. great idea, could be done on the car then

i have pulled them off before. if you gently lift the pointer over the stop peg at zero, let the pointer find its place of rest, make a note of it, pull the pointer off and move it 5mph or what ever...

get the wheels off the ground, wrap around the tire once with masking tape, have your helper spin the wheel while you make a nice line with pencil or fine point marker. works good to hold the marker...

the civilized way is to use a big press. hammers and air hammers just wreck stuff. you get very creative when setting the whole axle and wish bone in the bed of the press to get it sitting level and...
