Starter Issue

On several occasions my starter has kept turning after the engine starts and bendix releases. What could be causing this? I'm still on the original 6 volt system.

Thanks for the response. I have the piece you are talking about and the screws fit into the side of the frame as you state. But mine also has two holes at the top (one each side) as shown...
