Re: Tierod end grease zert direction questions

Thanks for the info., I swapped the tie rod, end for end, and the pinch bolts do not touch the wishbone now. The press in grease fittings are now facing the rear of the car.

Tierod end grease zert direction questions

I'm working on my friends '31 coupe, and noticed the bolt that clamps the end to the threaded rod is making contact with the wishbone on a left turn all the way to the steering stop. I think if I...

Re: What sealant to use on rear main bearing cap bolts and shims?

It is not leaking from the rear of the cam shaft. I went back together with nothing on the shims or bolts. I took out 1 peel shim on each side, .002, buttoned it all up except for the dust cover and...

What sealant to use on rear main bearing cap bolts and shims?

What is the recommended sealant to use on the rear main bearing cap bolts and shims? The engine is in the frame and the crankshaft is counter balanced so removal of the bearing cap is difficult. The...

Re: Rear main bearing cap oil return line question

I used a pistol cleaning bore brush and blew out a few times with 115 psi air. She's clean as a whistle!

Re: Rear main bearing cap oil return line question

I tried the V notched tube before I read your post. Could not get the thread to start properly, wanted to cross thread. Got out the stock replacement one I bought from Snyder's, went right in. It...

Re: Rear main bearing cap oil return line question

No I haven't yet, it will be a challenge to do as the engine is still in the car and the crankshaft is counter balanced. Working thru the dust cover does not provide any extra clearance that is for...

Re: Rear main bearing cap oil return line question

Yes I had a conversation about that with Herm Kohnke when I picked up my motor from him. This isn't that motor.

Re: Rear main bearing cap oil return line question

Ok I have more to add to the story...I removed the drain pipe this evening and found some sludge in the galley under the bearing cap. Not packed tight, but enough to slow things down. That would make...

Re: Engine block cleaning question

The navigator just pulled out from under the sink a big ol tub of Cascade complete. It has Dawn grease fighting power with lemon scent! Could be a win - win if it covers up the smell of raw gas!

Re: Engine block cleaning question

If there is a coating of "greasiness" on the inside of the radiator and water jacket the radiator can not dissipate the heat. On this particular car, a well meaning mechanic pumped the zerts full of...
