1950 V8 exhaust manifolds + crossover

Very nice condition, minimal surface rust (from desert NM car), no broken ears. Crossover has many miles left but would be $$$ to ship due to size of box.

Price is $50.00 PLUS shipping. Will be...

Re: Flathead Valve Guide Seals

I doubt bevelling the edges would seriously reduce their effectiveness.

A long time ago I heard good things about this guy, no personal experience tho:

Re: Mouse motor check it out

I bought an engine that would only turn about 45 degrees either way, assumed it was a stuck valve(s). Nope, packrats had dropped acorns down in the timing cover.

I get that it's a safe, enclosed...

Re: Where has billben/flathead gone

Bill Bentley passed about 5 - 6 yrs ago. The site remained active for maybe a year, but folded.

I believe it was Carl in Roseville CA who kept the site going

Re: 1950 F1 with Merc flathead

Mercury trucks, with a single exception, came with the same 239 Ford engines as Ford trucks, domestic or Canadian.

Merc heads on a Ford engine results in lower compression, unless milled a fair...

Re: boring a "94" "8BA"carb base to " EGC " 1 1/16

Not sure boring will solve the problem, it appears to me the whole throttle section is larger. See photo of 94 base with ECC gasket overlaid.

I have a near-complete ECC 1-1/16" carb gathering dust...

Re: 3 blades verses 6

I am running a 3-blade fan with shroud in my 52 pickup, 4-row radiator, +.060 EAB. No overheating whatsoever in 100 degree weather, slow traffic or highway speed.

My biggest concern with fans is...

Re: This, is why you pull the clean out plugs on a crank!

My rebuilder does it that way, except he doesn't even drill the starter hole. I saw him do a whole crank in less than 5 minutes. He uses an air drill, and a bolt down the middle of an old socket....

Re: 12 volt starter rpm reduction

If you are going 12v, I'd recommend getting a gear-reduction "mini-starter". They put the bendix into the front of the ring gear, never any hang-ups. They draw less than half the current of the...

Re: Old transmission..... New transmission

That's about where mine is with a 9" rear axle. I've been putting off having a new driveshaft that is 1/2 - 3/4" longer made. The normal distance from the face of the rear seal to the end of the...

Re: Airtex E8902

That's a Carter pump, I wonder if it is a return where someone sent in their Carter? Mac's sells it as a Carter: https://www.amazon.com/MACs-Auto-Parts-28-49431-Electric/dp/B071JHFCVS

That said, I...

Re: 1951 Ford F-100 pickup truck

Is something wrong with the 302? Have you driven it enough to know whether it's good? Not sure I'd throw it away, 302's are a good match to F-1's.

Re: 8BA compression issues

Are the battery cables #00 gauge, very heavy duty? Common cables carried in auto parts stores are #2 or #4, made for 12v systems, nowhere near up to the 600 amps a 6v car draws in cold weather.

Re: 8ba generator mount modifications

I have an EAB engine that came out of a Car (narrow belt) in my Truck. I had to have Car sheaves pressed onto the Truck WP's. I'm using a typical horseshoe alternator adapter.

One thing to...

Re: Correct Head torque

The Truck manual for 48-52 8BA/8RT says to go 65-70. FelPro says the same for their PermaTorque gaskets.

Re: 1951-1952 f1 hood

Actually hoods, cabs, and doors are shared by F1-F8. The big trucks often have better sheet metal because they are up out of the muck.

Re: Still needing advise on 52 F1

Does your tank have a right-angle shutoff valve on the fuel connection? That is what is stock. On its inlet (part that screws into tank) there is a metal tube made out of brass screen that sticks up...

Re: Still needing advise on 52 F1

Make sure the valve at the tank is completely open! Have you ever cleaned the screen in the valve, that sticks up into the tank? Have you done anything with the fuel line to the pump? That is the...

Re: Oil pan baffels ?

None of the 8BA truck pans ever had baffles, and the only 8BA Car pan I've seen them in was the Merc pan. I have one of those on my truck.

Re: Replace Flathead with Y-Block?

Believe it or not, Ford actually made an adapter to do this for trucks. They also made a kit to convert from the flat-6's to the OHV 6's. The parts lists for the kits runs to 2 pages...

Never seen...
