Youíre correct. There is a gap between the metal channel and the rockers. Woodie rocker panels on the 41/48 cars are unique compared to sedans thus the strange fit.

Were you able to find a correct '01C' hot water heater with the drain hole on the bottom of unit? A difficult item to find for sure.
