Re: Winter without a project?

It's 8:40 here and 32 degrees on the back porch thermometer. Just came up from more wire wheeling. It's Wednesday again, the night I get to stay out all night because my wife is on a 24 hour...

Re: Winter without a project?

Thanks Pete. I called that picture 'silver spoon' when I saved it. Dang, you are working overtime on my crummy little thread. I owe you, big time, and here's that battery box I built this afternoon....

Re: Winter without a project?

Sounds like your 'frozen swamp' neighborhood is similar to Western Washington. That's why I like to get my vehicles from the other side of the Cascades. You can have that garnish molding if you want...

Re: Winter without a project?

My warehouse in the woods. I need to set the other cab on a pallet. Stuff doesn't last long on the damp earth. Just out of the picture is a faitly complete but rusty tonner. It has a crack free 2...

Re: Seat ideas

I used a 3rd row seat fron my '88 suburban in a '47 truck. It fit perfectly and looked right because it was a pleated tan vinyl. 3rd row seats are plentiful on CL and many have been sitting in a...

Re: Winter without a project?

My little foray after lunch netted me a jailbar firewall 'kidney cover' as well as the two pedal assemblies for the six. Not sure, but might need to be altered, as the six during the jailbar years...

Re: Something different

Hey there DD Coopman I'm onto you... I have already had my 6x6 jaunt,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgkT84l4ZDg, but I have a deep love for Ford Jeeps. You can tell them by that 'real truck' full...

Re: Winter without a project?

Went into my back woods after lunch and found two complete six cylinder type pedal and linkage assemblies on old cabs. Now I need a driver's side battery box. Haven't found one. Anybody have a...

Re: Winter without a project?

Thanks . That lower pic gives one the scale showing how large these 7.50 x 17 tires are. I held back on painting the engine and frame this time. It is hard to know where to stop. My mission here is...

Re: Press & ream Kingpin bushings.

I'm a cabinetmaker. We don't work with those numbers, but mine have always gone in, and I have been using some grease in the installation. Main thing is you start off square. I have always clamped...

Re: Winter without a project?

AND.... Today being a weekend, Saturday I got the 4 speed bolted up to the six and today I cranked up the engine/trans with my 5 ton Beebe Brothers hand crank winch and rolled the chassis underneath...

Re: Winter without a project?

That pipe wrench was under our Christmas tree last year! My stepson is a gearhead and knows a good gift when he sees one. It almost seems ridiculous, but last summer I had to replace my rear axle...

Re: A rainey night in Olga

Never heard of it... a 'corrosive powder solvent?' not a term I recognize. I like the smells of most of the oils when hot, even one of my old diesels starting in the shop is ok for a while, but I...

Re: Press & ream Kingpin bushings.

Mine never press in (or out) easily. I have a large wilton bench vise and I always need a cheater pipe on the handle to press them in. I sometimes think they are going to get stuck half way in, but...

Re: Press & ream Kingpin bushings.

The set I installed two weeks ago also had 2 that were off by a bit. Like about 1/2 covered. I decided not to redrill and mess uo the pipe thread. I considered the size of the hole in the grease...

Re: Does Olga Know About This??

There are many smells (aromas) in the red shop. Years of woodwork and all that you have mentioned and more. I love the smell when the torch meets the penetrating oil. Favorite is MMO, followed by PB...

Re: 8BA Compression Test - Is it worth and an engine strip down?

Like others, I would drive as is and enjoy it. Summer is just around the corner. Seafoam and MMO are your friends if it has spent a lot of time sitting and has some stuck rings and sticking valves.

Re: Need H10 coke bottle plugs. Got ANY

Like others I have gone through my old sparkplugs. In the '80s I was given a nice bunch of old plugs considered duplicates in the collections of octogenarians at our yearly hit n miss/ tractor show....
