Re: 50/50 antifreeze and Water Wetter

Either Water Wetter works or it doesn’t hurt. I’ve always used a bottle of it when I replace the antifreeze. And I used to live in Chicago with a good mix of cold and hot weather.

Re: 41 ford stock gas tank replacement car (Dennis Carpenter)

Ha, you could be very right. I have not investigated that deeply. The sender has an adjustable float arm, and I do not believe I have it adjusted perfectly. It at least says “full” when fill it, and...

Re: 41 ford stock gas tank replacement car (Dennis Carpenter)

I see what you did there. I was also baffled at the lack of sender support. I cheaped out and used a TANKS inc tank and their aftermarket sender. The sender works with my original gauge on 6v.

Re: 'Rebuilders'? Am I tooo Picky?

I don’t know what the standard is, but a few years ago I also had a speedometer rebuilt by a Midwest instrument shop. My rebuild seemed to be only a mechanical rebuild also, and the odometer wasn’t...

Re: Harley Davidson low pressure brake light witch

I went to the local HD dealer last year and got one. Haven’t installed it yet to see how well it works though. Part numbers on the package are 91500011 and 72023-51E

Re: '40 and '41 Pickup

Buy the book. There’s some misinformation here. The book has some very interesting information, and the author really delved into the 1941 model.

Re: 6 volt bulbs

LEDs make a big difference. I bought different ones from superbrightled.com a few years ago, however I believe the cheap China made product overheated and caused the bulb to burst and fail. Just...

Re: Up to Date Info on a 6 Volt Fuel Pump?

The Airtex should be the one in the Macs catalogue and website. It’s where I bought mine.

Re: Anyone running a quiet 6v electric fuel pump?

I bought the one from Macs a few years ago. I believe it is the Airtex brand. It’s works good, and is quiet. When I turn it on, it’s just audible enough to know it’s there, but you can’t hear it at...

Re: Gas Tank for 40 Convertible Steel or Poly

I installed a steel tank from TANKS a few years ago. In my ‘41 pickup, I think the steel looked better, as it is very visible. It had cage nuts, fit was ok… I had to round out one of the holes in the...

Stromberg Hand Throttle Spring

I am looking for the little spring that goes inside the hand throttle linkage on the hand throttle shaft on a Stromberg 97. If anyone has one, or knows where to buy or find one, please let me know. ...

Re: crab pertronix 59ab

Do not use the resistor. I’ve been using your exact setup for the last 8 years. 59a engine, crab, 6v positive ground Pertronix unit. The pertronix needs the full 6v to the distributor. I bypassed...

Re: 47 pickup 100vs60 mph speedometer

Maybe someone put a 100 mph faceplate on a 60 mph speedometer? I think I read somewhere the speedometer can be recalibrated, so you could make it a 100 mph, if they really are both indeed 60 mph.

Re: Defroster Nozzels - what year?

While we are on this topic, how do the defroster hoses fit onto the nozzles? Do the hoses go over and hold on with a clamp? Or do you just press them over?

Re: 40 Ford LED tailights

White paint inside the housing. I also found 1156 6v LED light bulbs on superbrightleds.com and they really are super bright. They fit inside the tail lights on my pickup, but it looks like on their...

Re: 1939 1940 1941 firewall wiring kidney shaped cover

The center one looks more like the one on my 41 1/2 ton pickup. Although mine is smooth on the top and does not have that indent by the top wire opening.

Re: Empty Firewall Bolt?

Re: Empty Firewall Bolt?

That’s an interesting idea. I just looked again and although the battery tray is mounted lower on the passenger side, there is a bolt mirrored on the passenger side which is the battery ground post....

Empty Firewall Bolt?

What is this bolt for? 1941 pickup. I’ve seen it unused on other pickups too.

Re: 1940 fan shroud

No original shroud. But I fitted a walker plastic shroud to my 41 pickup. You have to measure and cut the hole, but it works well. I found a few threads on here about others who did the same.

Re: Someday this engine will run right.

I have a 6 volt system and a pertronix on a crab distributor. Zero problems and it runs.I feel your pain with the original style replacement points, coils, etc. I went with the pertronix several...

I use a Die Hard battery maintainer on my 6v positive ground with a Red Top Optima battery. I have the pigtail quick connect wired to the battery terminals and plug it in over the winter. I’ve had no...

Re: 34,000 mile 1946 Ford Truck for upcoming TV episode

The speedo face plate is 1940 pickup. And the water temp gauge with that green bar I’ve only seen on 46-47 Mercury trucks. I agree on the horn. The pickup horn should mount on the left frame rail and...
