How old is the ignition system under heavy excel spark plugs are usually the first thing to try but don’t forget cap wires rotor points and condenser keep us informed

doesn’t matter if it’s cable or braided strap but get it big enough mine goes from the bell housing to the body not the frame body is mounted on rubber mounts

Every thing mentioned is very good info but what is the generator putting out for voltage at 1500 rpm you should be @ 7.5 volts with every thing turned off check your generator output also on my 50...

Just my opinion but didn’t care for that straight pipe sound it sounded like i had a exhaust leak Went with the 1 - 3/4 stock pipe with the cherry bomb mufflers they make long and short units i used...

Just some more info on my 1950 v-8 cpe i’ve had for 23 years when i first got it always ran @ 1/2 way on gauge or a little higher with 160 stats some years down the road radiator started to leak...

the first thing i would ck. is generator output had that happen to me once the generator was only putting out half of what it should takes a lot to lock and hold that solenoid in keep us informed

why are you taking it apart did it explode inside or are you just going to clean and inspect it i had to take mine out of my 50 cpe because it ate the spider gears but like was said pull axles out...

just to add my 2cents worth in my 50 cpe with o.d. i use 80-90 gear oil mixed 50/50with lucas engine oil addictive iíve had that in there 20 plus years and only have minor drips after a long trip...

when your trying to get more rpm when you’re under the hood put your hand on top of the carb and slowly close off the air as you try to bring up the rpm that will richen the mixture if you can get it...
