Re: update on getting dizzy after being under the A.

I'm with Chap - two or three times in and out to have everything I need. Then I have to try to remember what the hell I'm there for.

Re: Tail light / Switch Issues

I'd say something wrong with the tail bulbs. Swap the two and see if the problem moves.

Tail lights light at all 3 positions; 4:00 and 5:00 use the same switch contacts. Open up the switch and...

Re: Positive Ground

There is no difference between negative and positive ground circuits except for the direction of current flow; the circuit is the same.

The hot wire is switched to the bulb socket contact. The...

Re: One Piece Hood Prop

Odd coincidence - I hadn't seen your post but I ordered the stainless one from Snyder's yesterday. Of course, I preferred the one for twice the price, and I didn't like the looks of the one for half...

Re: Generator Charging

Third brush is basically a current setting. Since 12V components require only half the current, the setting for 6V will be twice that required for 12V.

If you used a dropping resistor with your...

Re: Cowl light Gasket?

Glass and reflector, keeps weather off bulb. Like tail light, between glass and cup rim.

Re: Model A Electrical Inquiry re: cut out

Benson, read the specs for a stud-mount diode as used in these cutouts. Typically 1.2-1.5V drop at rated current. Germanium diodes are for small signals, not power.

Re: LED Headlights

The "manual" says mark should be up, unless hi/low are reversed, then it should be downward.

I don't know how they claim they're for Model T and early A's (H-type lamps), since those cars' bulbs...

Re: Model A Electrical Inquiry re: cut out

The polarity will be the same on both sides of the cutout, regardless of type. The voltage difference across it is the concern. Your readings would not be unusual for a regulator type, but the...

Re: Ammeter Reading

The ammeter reads only battery charge/discharge, and provides little information on generator output. Third brush adjustment is more art than science. Adjusted too low for nighttime or stop & go...

Re: Ad Astra moon rovers using a Model A chassis?

Those cool fenders keep the moon mud from messing up your pretty white suit. How high do those things bounce at 1/6 G when you hit a bump in the road?

Re: Model A Headlights

Sorry. I didn't have my books with me on the road. The 1929 acorns were indeed nickel-plated. 1930-31 stainless hemis, not 29. (That was just a brain fart. :o)

Re: hidden radio ideas or just slighty out of sight. wood hide door?

The docs I read for the Arduino show VCC as 3V input, RAW is for 5V. DFPlayer needs a ground. Just nitpicking.

If your car is negative ground you could use a 7805 connected to RAW and I'm...

Re: cowl lights for our '28 Sport coupe

I think there was a dealer option for cowl lamps, but it would have used a separate switch, since the 28 had only a 3-position lighting switch - off, dim, bright. If your car has been retrofitted...

Re: Radius rod ball rubber cover mod

There are those who say to get rid of the rubber, it's an aftermarket add-on to compensate for ball wear. You might just replace the springs instead, as they weaken with age, maybe a couple of flat...

Re: Model A Headlights

1928-E29 were acorn or bullet-shape cadmium-plated steel, with fluted lenses. 1929-31 were hemispherical stainless with "Twolite" logo, "bullhorn" lenses. Both lenses 8" diameter. Earlier...

Re: Trying to find the source of a blown starter fuse.

If the fault occurs in only one position - bright or dim, concentrate on the forward harness. If it happens in any position, including park (Twolite), then it will be in the taillight circuit. As...

Thanks for the feedback report. Makes us feel good we've helped out. Your clear description of the problem made it easier to zero-in on it.

Re: Trying to find the source of a blown starter fuse.

The starter-mounted fuse is intended to protect the battery from discharging from a dead short through the generator caused by stuck cutout contacts when the engine is shut off. A short that both...

Re: Headlight switch sequence

Check passenger side socket on back of bucket. Black/green, black/red, black/yellow wires connect bright, dim, park lamps, respectively. Yellow and red may be swapped there; dim appears not...
