Re: Totaly "Restored" 1st Sport Coupe sold in San Francisco

Early '28's didn't have a separate emergency brake system; the hand lever applied all four service brakes.

Because it was not a completely separate system from the service brakes, several states...

Re: Rear Backing Plate Bolts

Thank you!

Re: Rear Backing Plate Bolts

Here's a photo of an early '28 rear grease baffle. Note the spacers behind the nuts.

I'm trying to figure out if I have this installed correctly; that's a different thread.

I was getting ready to post a photo of my early '28 rear grease baffle to the thread about rear backing plate bolts, when it dawned on me: did I install this correctly?

The grease baffle fits...

Re: Early 28 front brake arms

I went ahead and peened them the way that looked reversed to me. It was then that I noticed what Dudley is talking about. The chamfer on the arm matches the chamfer on the the actuator housing. ...

Re: Early 28 front brake arms

Jim, I tried swapping them side-to-side with the same result. They appear to be identical.

Bob, I agree, they are not symmetric, but they only go on the shaft in a way that looks different from...

Re: Early 28 front brake arms

I understand the 15 degree tilt toward the front. That looks like it will be correct.

My question is about how these slightly asymmetric arms tilt toward or away from the wheel to provide...

Early 28 front brake arms

I am attaching the arms to the front brake shafts on my April 28 roadster.

According to the Judging Standards (7-5), the arm should tilt slightly toward the front wheel.

The arms slide on to...

Re: New Guy & Question About Spokes

Okay, after a month of evenings, I have some nice, straight spokes. All are within 1/32" of true and runout was minimally affected (thanks, Larry).

While a slide hammer was handy, I found that my...

Hi Ford Barners,

I am restoring an April '28 Roadster that I inherited mid-project from my Dad. It is in many pieces although as far...
