Re: 33/34 Trunk Hinge

For everyones enjoyment, here is a photo of the mold to make the wax, and a wax, for the investment casting. The mold is cast urethane. The pattern to make the mold was 3D printed oversize to...

Re: 33/34 Trunk Hinge

We are, here in the US, making them in cast stainless, not polished @ 350.00 set. We are able to make these in very small lots (5 pair)

Drakes are not in production, to get them made in Taiwan...

Re: 1932 ford windshield

Try this (you will need two helpers):

1. per David, check the fit of the frame to the body without hinges and swing arms.
2. Install hinges loosely.
3. Install swing arms, and lock down.
4....

Re: 1932 Ford Hood Top

A stock 1930-31 hood on a 1930-31 car will fit the 1932 grille shell without modification to the hood.

The 1932 hood is longer and wider at the cowl than the 1930-31 (in addition to the above...

Re: 1935 pickup parts

The tailgate hinge does not use bolts as such, rather a full width rod held in with cotter pins. Illustration on our catalog page: http://www.wescottsauto.com/SubIndexes/o_pickup_indx.html

Re: 34 Bob Drake Grill racking

Known issue. Castings of that type will warp from internal stress or from being removed from the die.

Drake does a pretty good job of qc and rejects/repairs that issue almost all of the...

Re: 32 ford roadster

Simply cutting the main arm and lengthening the front arm will result in the irons fouling the door opening when lowered. See pix.

It is possible with a much more complex modification of the...

Re: Need 1933-34 panel delivery rear fender info

My understanding is the 1/2 ton panel rear fender has the same shape as the pickup fender, with a big cut-out on the inside to clear the wheelwell of the panel. There may be additional mounting holes...

Re: 39 Ford/Mercury parts

The "Green Bible" is of chassis parts and will be of little help with body parts... You need a copy of the 1939 and 1940 body parts books.

As to what "will work" is a matter of trial and error...

Re: Help with a family issue

The question is acceptable risk.

The two major concerns.
1. Vapor build up in the passenger compartment. The stock Ford design vents under the truck and the fill cap is sealed. If everything is...

Re: Do You Carry a Container of Gas in your Trunk?

That is part of it. The more important part is when (not if) there is an overfill it is on the ground and less hazard to deal with.

If you are filling a metal container it should be grounded to...

Re: Do You Carry a Container of Gas in your Trunk?

A gas can stored in a well sealed trunk is imho a bad idea. A fuel tank in an unventilated trunk is a worse idea. The gas can needs to be vented for pressure relief with temperature changes. The...

Re: 1936 Pickup Bed Questions

md8810 pretty much nails it as to the construction and structure of the original bed.

I would NOT use a metal floor under the wood as it would tend to hold moisture. The reason the wood floors...

Re: 40 door hinges replacement

If your hinge is in overall good condition, do not replace it.

Acquire a 3 ft length of 9/32 drill rod (O-1 tool steel at McMaster-Carr). Use this to determine that the upper and lower hinges...

Re: 1937 and 1938 cowl sides ?

1937 and 1938 standard cowl sides are, as near as I can tell, identical. 1938 deluxe and 1939 standard used the exact same sides, with the addition of fender mounting holes with captive nuts behind...

Early Ford electric used a 6 on 2-3/4" circle.
Late (most street rod) uses a 5 on 2-3/4" circle.
