Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons

Sometimes, less is more. The chromed window frame on the doors would be the first thing to go.

Re: 64 Galaxie door panel clip alternatives

I remember those well. Sometimes you would go to pull off the door panel, and it had gotten wet and frail. The clips would stay in the door.

Re: sun visors , Right and Left ??

On my 58 Chevy, they are the same. The mounting holes in the roof are at a slight angle, allowing the arm to move in the correct direction. If you will notice, the arm should swing 360*, so it should...

Re: 64 Galaxie front drum brake issue

Have you checked the front brake hoses. I had a 46 Ford PU once that did that. The hoses collapsed inside and kept the brake pressure from bleeding back to the MC. When I would jack it up and check,...

Re: stabilizer bar bushings.

Someone on another website posted this video of how to stop the squeaking with poly bushings. For myself, I use the original rubber bushings. They'll outlast me.

Re: 64 Galaxie fuel and temp gauge issues

Have you checked the sending unit to be sure it's working?

Re: 64 Galaxie - raise front seat

Good idea on the oak. My wife has to use a pillow when she drives the 63, and it is a bit low for me too. Now...to find some oak.

Re: Easy way to pump gas out of gas tank

Ya gotta be old school and suck on the hose, hoping that you don't get a mouthful of gas. If you do, you've been initiated.

Re: Back-up Lights 1957 Ford

Sometimes life gets in the way. I 'finished' my 58 Chevy in the early 90's. The car is the cheapest line in the wagon group, and didn't come with the interior light that comes on with door switches;...

Re: The gas Gauge doesn't work on 56 T-Bird

The gas gauge showed MT on my 58 Chevy. I pulled the sending unit and found that the brass float had cracked in three places. Replaced it with another float, and less than 6 months, the gauge was...

Re: 1955 Ford Ranch Wagon V8 Dual Exhaust Tail Pipes

It's not just on Fords. My 58 Chevy wagon has them out the rear, and I can smell exhaust in the car. Being that I only drive it in the summer, I just open the fresh air vents. But, one of these days,...

Re: What are your thoughts on polishing stainless?

Daves55, you should've used the 'sticks' of compound from Eastwood. Not as mess. My bench grinder is also mounted on a stand, and no guards so I can work from the sides, too. I was lucky, I had no...

Re: What are your thoughts on polishing stainless?

I polished all the SS on my 58 Chevy wagon, but there really wasn't a whole lot of it, being the bottom line wagon for that year. My wheels are only 6", I imagine that his are much larger and do a...

Re: 1957 T bird new fuel pump problems!!

I can't remember the particulars, because it was about 50 years ago. My oldest brother gave me a 58 Mercury with a 383 in it, and it didn't run well. IIRC, the fuel pump was in front, on top. The...

Re: 64 Galaxie adjust front seat back angle

How about shimming the seat rear mounts? I looked at my 63, and you're right, no adjustment. Must've been the Mustangs that had an adjustment 'bolt.'

Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons

I had a 59 Ford 2 door sedan in HS that the Ford dealer foreman had traded in. It was all black with grey interior and had pinstriping on the dash that really looked cool. It had the trim around the...
