Re: New guy with questions.

I had a "knock" that sonded more like a click. I adjusted values and it seems to help. But remember I am no expert on A's.

Re: 1929 tire questions

I find that my coupe will have flat spots for a little while when I take off.

Re: 1929 tire questions

I use Firestone whitewalls on both of my 1929's. The seem to work OK. Don't think they are nylon.

Re: New guy with questions.

Was there any different knock sound on any one of the plugs? If so, may tell you if it is one rod or another.

Also, it could be a value that needs adjusting (if you have adjustables)

Re: Model A Zenith Carburetor

Here is a quick fix for a leaky gas shut off value. I put one of these things on my huckster years ago. The short term advantage is that you do not have to drain your gas tank. But the long term...

Re: Stop light staying on

Opps guess that shows how much I don't know about Model A's. Also only have 29's so that may be another factor.

Re: Model A Zenith Carburetor

Tom, please tell this guy that does not know much about this subject, what you mean by "lapping". Sorry, I think you may have done this before but the old mind forgot.

Re: Model A Zenith Carburetor

They stick up about an inch or so in the tank. Would take a lot of junk in the tank to block this filter.

Re: Stop light staying on

May need a new switch or just adjust it. Can do this on top of tranny.

Re: Would leaving the ignition on cause damage to the coil?

A bit off the subject but I had a short in my ignition system and this caused the coil to heat up quickly. So another thing that can mess up a coil. But this is also a way to tell if you have a...

Re: black sooty sparkplugs

I don't know a lot about it either. Just what I found out the hard way.

On one of my carbs, if you take the GAV out along with the thing it screws into, you can look down into the shaft where...

Re: Timing wrench

I find the NuRex gets it close for me. But I still have to "tweek" it a bit to get it to where the rig seems to be running the way it should. But it is a good tool to have to help you out in this...

Re: black sooty sparkplugs

Did you check to see what type of GAV fitting (if any) you may have down in the bottom of the GAV shaft. I had one carb that I needed this fitting and didn't have it and things did not run well at...

Re: 1929 Special coupe: easy way to move seat back 1.5 inches

I did like the bulletin suggests on my 29 std coupe except I only lengthen out the bottom brackets. I did not cut the package tray back. It did help with my 6'2" frame but it still could have more...

Re: Carb rebuilders

I tend to agree with mfarley. A carb is a simple thing to figure out and like he said, many good parts are available. Just buy an extra junker from EBAY or somewhere and see what you can do with...

Re: Turn Signal Beeper

I plugged a beeper into my huckster turn signals and it was so loud I thought I was a gravel truck backing up! Took it back off because everyone looked at me on my drive.

Re: Metal coupe or wooden wagon?

My huckster weighs about 2700-2800 and the 29 std coupe is about 2200-2300. The huckster body is made out of solid red oak.

Re: Metal coupe or wooden wagon?

I did the same thing with the Van Lente body. Great body, great quality work and Jon will let you know what you need for your cowl.

But as you may know, a red oak body is kind of a fair weather...

Yes I would think you could. Send me your email and I will try to send you a picture of mine.
Mine was a 1929 CCPU and it looks like yours is a 29 also.

Steve,

Sorry I did not get back to you on this subject. Just happened to run across it today.

Re: Gas Leaks-Lines & Shutoff Valve-29 Tudor

I could not get the line on my 29 from the filter to carb to stop leaking. So I bought a new line and problems went away.

Also on my other rig I had problems with fittings. I found some stuff at...

Re: Zenith LEAKS after rebuild

I had one leak where the GAV "housing" bolts into the lower part of the carb. It had a crack where the "housing" screws into the lower part of the carb.
