Re: oil with out zink

The scare from the lack of ZDDP has been around since the mid 70's. Most people didn't realize it and most Ford engines didn't suffer from it. Both small and big block Chevys are the ones that...

Re: 351c miss/backfire under load?

See if you can beg, borrow or steal an original Ford point distributor, with an original set of points and condenser and give it a try. I have attempted to use the same distributor you have and...

Re: Bucket seats

Early Mustang seats are about 3" lower than the Falcon seats. Years ago a buddy did the swap and used some 2X4's for spacers. looked ugly, but did the job. Why won't the bench seat work, do you...

Re: fordo torque converter

It's not a necessity to fill it, does get messy when you install it though. It fills from the pump, just like it any other trans, if it didn't, it wouldn't continue to work while driving. A friend...

Re: F100 4 speed

Since you have a 3 spd bell, the narrow toploader or narrow T10 will bolt up. A 64 and earlier Galaxie trans would be the best as far as shifter location, it's the farthest forward, a Mustang trans...

Re: C4 linkage compatability

Find an independent trans. shop that's been in business for a while. They can probably fix you up with the right shift shaft from something in their used parts supply. It shouldn't be that hard to...

Re: 351w block problems

Used to drag race clevelands in the early 70's and had pretty good luck. Never had a block or oiling issue For what was available in performance parts then, they worked much better than a Windsor....

Re: Anybody running Elgin lifters?

Elgin is pretty much standard with the major engine rebuilders. Used it many times with no issues

Re: 66 insturment cluster in 65 question

It would be nice if you had another gauge to try. You mentioned the new gauge came from a dealer, it may be the issue

Re: 66 insturment cluster in 65 question

I think your sending units are for a light and not a gauge or if your getting new ones they are Chinese knock offs that don't work

Re: Offenhauser Chevy 265/283 To Ford Manual Transmission Adapter

Sid is correct, this bell required a GM "V8 adaptor plate" from an iron powerglide. a '55-56 pg used a GM23836142 and '57 pg used GM3733293. All 3 years would use a 168 tooth flywheel

Re: Looking for a better rear end

As far as axle shafts with the 8" unit, that's not the problem, both 8" & 9" used the same 28 spline axles. The carrier is weaker in the 8", the spyder gears(pinions)and shaft are smaller and the...

Re: F 150

Still looks like a nice rig. The 2 valve 4.6 will run a lot more miles than 200K. I maintain a fleet of cop cars, still have about 65 Crown Vics left in patrol, some are pushing 300K and never had...

Re: 64 Galaxie rear leaf spring

Most likely the bolt is rusted into the spring eye bushing, 5737. You may not have a choice but to snip it apart with a torch. If you are careful you won't damage/weaken the frame

Re: chrome paint bumper

There products available to mimick electroplating and from what I have seen the finished product looks as good or better. The good thing is it can be applied to plastic as well as metal. The bad...

Re: '69 LTD 390 Won't Start

If it has a lot of miles on it, maybe the timing chain jumped when it back fired. It's doubtful the resistance wire has gone bad, when the starter is cranking, the solenoid bypasses the resistance...

Re: The GREAT Introducing Ms. American 3.14159 Caper

I maybe mistaken, but I think the hand choke mechanism from a 2100 Autolite on a 292 or 352 pickup/light duty truck is the same thing as the Mustang 4100 used

Re: Q about padded dash condition

In 1967 I had a '60 Galaxie and the padded dash was cracked and nasty. I eliminated it by pulling off the entire thing, in pieces, the metal underneath was gloss black. Once I got it cleaned up it...

Re: Rear brake question

I'm thinking they will fit. I know that the backing plates on a '65 mustang 8" are a bolt on a '57 housing

Re: power steering

If you don't care about originality, Borgeson builds a power steering gear box to fit a '52-'64 Ford. There are several places selling R & P kits, but they are a lot of messing around to install

Re: Quality parts

Motorcraft contracts from the lowest bidder, just like their competition. Most any OE replacement Ford part that Motorcraft sells today that is 10 years old or more is produced overseas. A good...

Re: 302 upgrade - Roller Rockers question

I have a 2000 Explorer 302, has 260,000 miles and runs great, no smoke and no leaks. Where I live there are traditional wrecking yards as well as "you pull" yards. There are usually half a dozen...

Re: 302 upgrade - Roller Rockers question

I think the Crane rockers you are describing are the ones that Ford used on an original '93 Mustang Cobra 5.0. Crane actually supplied them to Ford for this particular application. I believe they...

Re: Heavy duty Y block exhaust valve cap

The problem with any of Ford's sodium filled valves, they would occasionally break. I have seen several on the FT series and 1 on a Y block
