Re: Correct hubcaps for 1939 standard

Goofy wheels grow on you, my jalopy started with wires, then later in construction 37 axles were found and used. Found later small pattern wheels but by the time it was finished, left the wide 5’s....

Re: 39 Brake Questions.

I “fergot more than I ‘member” this one of them being out of the hands on for several years. Now back into the game, I am taking stock myself of what is in the stash. I talked to a machinist friend...

Re: Craftsman torque wrench, great deal at Lowe's

Ah, mine went with a box of crap tools at the flea market. Cost around $100 about 25 years ago, ratchet stripped after a few uses would not replace or provide a kit. Junk so went back to the antique...

Re: Preparing for the end.

$hit, I realize I am nowhere on this now, thanks for the reality check. My daughter once asked me what my prewar A V8 was worth and answer is priceless. Sad son in law is clueless, cannot...

Re: Fenton cast iron headers

My Opinion only, I think the cast iron absorbs sound, tubes keep the rumble bigger, also my stock 37 manifolds look the most inefficient I ever saw. I used 2” from the center and the 1.5” coming into...

Re: Split wishbones

As I recall 3 to 8 degrees therefore I got 5 deg. on V8, I have a V8 axle on an A frame. There was a long drop in the mix to get it right but a 4” z in the frame brought it tight to the bottom of...

Re: What wheels are on this car?

Will any of them hold air? I would start there just to make life easier, if it starts & can move or just roll around big deal

Re: It’s getting harder to drive my A

I know what you say, my brother always swore by going down the middle to the keys, the coasts are so crowded. (35 years ago) Last year I went to my father’s in Naples and came up the center and...

Re: Seized t engine

I don’t know that much about the T transmissions yet, but if the band material had been damp and swelled up could be dragging on all the drums and causing lock-up? Similar to the shift fork...

Re: Seized t engine

If closer I have T engines that need shim and fit work done, why do I need so many when I like V8’s

Re: Temp gauge reading and introduction

I like dual gauges and added to the 21 stud by using the water pump with gauge provision on both sides. I had also drilled a hole in a housing and brazed in the adapter bushing for the right side....

Re: Help - Front End is Off Center

Obvious from the attitude of the shackles L & R something way off on center of axle/spring. What happens if wishbone turned loose?

Re: Starting at the beginning

Yeah, have a frame, fender, cowl, couple doors, need transmission, have axles & small stuff. If I had more car and no engine would have to fish for one of them….to say nothing of the wad of T stuff...

Starting at the beginning

So figured this may as well be assessed, it turned with crank so I bought it last year. After wrangling cables got the floppy switch to run the starter motor, but freewheel. Pulled the drive apart,...

Re: Rear Springs U bolts

If the bolts are that bad, I would consider the center bolt also, think it is about 5/16. In a perfect world, restore a complete spring to swap out if finding broken leaves.

Re: Oil in intake ports

My guess came up around valve stems, looks like exhaust ports pretty clean & even burn. New motor will clear that up. Edit: good valve fit should stop crankcase being sucked on

Re: 39 rear spring

Somewhere there is data I had maybe from van pelts, width & leingths, and trucks were different by 2 more leaves, maybe 60 hp 1 less. There is a page out there somewhere.
