Re: 1928 Closed cab sediment bowl

I prefer and use the cast iron bulb . I have never had a leak or problem of any kind with the cast iron bulb and prefer the old original look . I found that if a person uses the glass sediment bowl...

Re: zenith 1 on model b engine?

I agree , The C head gave the model B nearly a seven horse power increase over the model A engine . The B carb , larger intake ports and improved cam profile added just over three horsepower . The B...

Re: Conventional Cap

I believe that NAPA can get both original and conventional distributor caps plus most other mechanical parts for the model A . My experience has been that model A parts are much less expensive when...

Re: connect the capacitor outside

While a modern condenser isn't original , it will get the job done . It doesn't get much easier than mounting and connecting a modern condenser to the switch side of the coil . I run the A&L...

Re: connect the capacitor outside

Thanks John for the drawing in post number 5 as it shows exactly how to connect the condenser as I tried to explain . I once had a picture posted here of how I mounted the condenser on my september...

Re: connect the capacitor outside

One reason would be that modern style condensers are available at local parts houses . Another reason is that it is easier to mount and connect the condenser to the coil . If not using the original...

Re: connect the capacitor outside

Remove the original condenser from the distributor . Mount a modern condenser to the coil bracket or firewall . Connect the pig tail wire from the condenser to the switch side of the coil . If...

Re: No Spark

I always sand the contacts on new points before using . If that didn't work I would suspect the condenser . Some of the new low priced condensers made in China could be the problem . NAPA can get...

Re: Modern distributor cap

If the original style distributor cap body and cap was made as one part , you would lose the ability to measure and adjust the air gaps . I've used and found NO advantage to a modern style...

Re: Odd Brake Issue

You didn't say whether it was front or back . I had a similar problem with a rear wheel brake . The old grease at one of the rear brake cam SHAFTS was causing a tightness or a bind . I disconnected...

Re: Modern distributor cap

While it is possible to measure and adjust air gaps with the original model A or B distributor caps, I don't see how measuring air gaps would be possible with a modern style distributor cap .

Air...

Re: Modern distributor cap

I prefer the original distributor cap , first for the original look . The gaps can be measured between the rotor tip and the 4 contacts in the distributor cap . The 4 contacts can be filed for equal...

Re: B Carb and B Distributor

I still prefer the original distributor , its less complicated . I like having the ability to retard and advance the distributor myself . I'm use to it and consider it as part of the model A charm ..

Re: Fix or Replace

Study the wiring diagram on page 94 of the 2019 Brattons catalog . This diagram, with the listed color coding makes this procedure fool proof . I use to make my own wiring harnesses . The correctly...
