40 transmission removal while on a 4 post lift?
I have come to the conclusion I have to remove the tranny from my 40. I have done it before with jack stands on my garage floor. However,I now own a 4 post lift and think it is feasible to do it on...

STP in the blue bottle, has it on the label. I what I use. 8 ba with early heads in a 40, and a French block in a 34. Easy to find, problem solved.

Learned this from a Bonneville racer. Try using a small marble size ball of Bondo. Let set and harden. Slice the pancake in half, the cross section is your exact clearance. I’ve done it a few times.

Two Piece Oil Pans? When were they made?

Ditto on Mart.... Put mine together and hadn’t weld the oil breather shut. Knew right away I had a problem. I ground a small amount of the block where the oil vent meets the block and welded the pan...

Total Timing How do you measure it?
I am confused as what constitutes total timing. I have read places that all that counts is the initial and mechanical added together equals "Total Advance". That the vacuum advance is not figured...
