Re: SILV-O-LITE 8-1017 Piston Info?

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll have to bore it to a more standard and available size.

I talked to Ross and they said .100 over would have to be custom. I looked at Egge and their L-991 do come in.100...

Re: SILV-O-LITE 8-1017 Piston Info?

Yeah, I was excited to find numbers so close, but not as excited that they were about double what I was expecting.

I called UEM and they didn't have records back far enough to find my pistons.

SILV-O-LITE 8-1017 Piston Info?

Howdy,

I have a barn find 1941 Mercury block in the machine shop and after a parts wash, it looks like it was freshly bored, covered in grease, and stuck in the corner to collect dust for...

Re: Brent Terry Model A restorations

Yeah, I found it difficult to get ahold of him after he stole my gas tank. Months of radio silence between replies.

After something like a year and a half, I finally bugged him enough to get a...

Engine ID - check my math

Picked up this pile of parts for super cheap. I think I see some T parts mixed in, so I don't know if these V8 parts ever went together or if this was a pile of leftovers.

Based on my research,...

If that's junk, I suspect a lot of us are running junk.

Re: Coming Soon the 64th Long Beach Model T Club Swap Meet

I'll be there, looking for A and early V8 parts.

I take my motorcycle to force myself to shop smart. If I had my truck, I'd clean the place out.

Re: '29 CCPU seat shopping - what do I need?

Thanks for the info, pals.

I've emailed you, Neil.

I have been set on getting a LeBaron Bonney seat.. just waiting for their material sample packet to arrive so I can brainstorm a bit. But, if...

'29 CCPU seat shopping - what do I need?

I'm in the market for a seat for my 1929 Closed Cab Pickup. This is what I'm working with.

I want to stay stock, so no minivan or S-10 or anything else. I've mentally swallowed the pill for the...

Re: Sometimes I get tired of it

As an engineer, I get tired of... anti-science personal anecdotes.

Your sample size of a single failure doesn't discredit the rest of us who have used the process successfully.

The fact...

Re: Help. What size gear shift knob insert do I need?

Determine the thread of your later knob. The A thread is 5/16-24.

You might even get lucky and buy a standard thread insert that matches both, yours on the outside and 5/16-24 on the inside.

Re: Spring bolt

So, what's the deal with the current suppliers center bolts? Their recommended lengths are about 2-3 inches too long. The nut bottoms out before it even sandwiches the leafs.

Re: I.D. Plate?

My plate is also blank, from 90 years of use, abuse, etc.

I'm 99% sure that I'm going to copy the Sopwith Pup and replace mine with a brass plate that says, "In the event of the propeller or...

Re: Shackle bushing reamer use

I just replaced the shackle bushings in my front end. Sure as can be, I don't even need to use the nice reamer I just bought. They're so loose and sloppy, it's offensive. They're worse than the worn...

Re: 1/2 @$$ fix

Just had him do mine a month ago. I "waited" at the Irwindale Mooneyes show for a couple hours. Came back and my brakes were done. Installed them last week.

A heck of a bargain.

Re: Les Andrews: Trimming of Motor Mount Rubber

I did not have to do any trimming on the rubbers from Mikes that I just installed. It was a snug fit, but felt good to me.

I've built up the best of a few transmissions and I'm re-assembling one on the bench right now.

Take care to only change one thing at a time and to use some sort of repeatable measurement/conditions.
