Re: Crazy Tachometer Behaviour

Thanks 51504bat! I'll give the diode a shot and report back.

51 MERC-CT - I have a handheld unit but it's tricky to use as well. Besides that, it ties up your hands and prevents or slows down...

Re: Crazy Tachometer Behaviour

I'm trying, without much luck so far, to get a sensible tachometer reading on a '39 Merc 239 running on a test stand. It has a Bubba-built crab distributor with points and a Bosch blue (internal...

Re: throw-out bearing

I might have received one of these bum bearings. Just reinstalled my recently rebuilt transmission and after only about 10 miles of driving it's already starting to squeal.

Re: PCV VALVE SYSTEM for 8BA with Early Intake Manifold

Excellent write-up Coop. Now all we need is a similar one for the 59A blocks! ;-)

Re: ID Flathead engine

Look for any numbers cast into the top of the block just ahead of the right side cylinder head.

Re: Rear Motor Mount Rubber Issue

JoeCB: I had considered that possibility and initially hoped that was the case but, on close inspection, these are definitely cracks (predominantly through-wall). Mine are the drawn steel - not cast...

Re: Changed my steering column mount today!

I'm launching into the installation of one of these column mounts on my '30 roadster and, not having ever removed the dash rail before, have a question for you experts. Is it held on by just the 5...

Re: Solo Motor Installation

I'll be facing a reinstall soon... whenever I can get to the shop that recently re-poured the engines bearings. Any thoughts on whether it's easier to do with the transmission in the car, attached to...

Re: 1930-31 Steering Wheel installation

Following on Tinbashers thoughts, I put a new wheel on my roadster recently and found there was a lot of mold plastic “spillover” fouling the splines. I had to remove it (with an exacto knife) before...

Re: Valve Guide Seal Installation The Easy Way

Never had particular difficulty getting the o-ring on the guide itself. The bigger problem has been getting the guide into the guide bore without the o-ring hanging up. On intakes, once the o-ring is...

Oldford2 is correct. In the meantime, is there a number cast into the block just forward of the right side cylinder head?

Re: Question re liners in a relieved block.
