Tubman is a Smart Fellow.
I had a friend who years ago put a chev engine in his 37 sedan. It it lasted as long as it took to push it backwards out of it garage and let out the clutch.

If you have a basically stock engine, stock cast iron manifolds work well with duals and glass packs. my 40 has this setup for over 30 years. just find a Good muffler shop to make your pipes.

Any way. What is the best way to check to see if your timing gear needs to be replaced.

Right now if you place your hand over the carburetor when cranking, there is no suction to be feltat all.

Sounds like my 40 sedan at the Newport Hill Climb. Right before I went up the Hill 12 times and ate all the teeth off the timing gear.

Slightly off topic.
I had trouble putting a wheel with a radial tire in the trunk. It was slightly (?) larger than the original. I removed the wood blocks behind the tire and now the radial fits...

Make sure the bulbs are a large enough draw to operate the flasher. I lost what was left of my hair trying to get the lights to flash

Try a 50/50 mix of Acetone and Auto trans fluid.
it is cheaper than MMO and you can use a Lot more

I put a new weather strip on my 40 Tudor. It is thicker than the old dried out one,which makes getting the trunk open interesting. you have to push on the trunk under the handle to get it open

did you disconnect the flex brake line on the torque tube, so you can move the torque tube back further. also replace the flex line with a longer one . so next time you wont have to bleed the brakes

After sliding the trans back,
You may have to twist the transmission to the right to clear the crossmember.
Then you can remove the trans.

If you have hydraulic brakes put a longer flex line going to the torque tube . Then you can move the assembly back with out having to bleed the brakes.

Try a smaller shoe like P F Flyers
I have size 13s and dont have any trouble with my 40.

I used an Arrow T-25 stapler to fasten the welting on my 40. This stapler uses half round staples for stapling round phone wire.
