I had the same issue with push-in fasteners for the anti-rattler felts. The ones that came with the felt channel kit I bought were not spring steel. So, when pushed into the holes of the door sheet...

I used a D-shaped bulb type seal made of a fairly soft EPDM rubber as a door seal on my '50 F1 and I plan to do the same on my '41 Ford PU project. It worked out well. You can buy it by the foot...
