Re: How obsolete was the model t in the late 20s

My guess is that a big part of it was that roads were wagon trails when the T was first introduced so slow speeds and inferior brakes really did not make much difference. As roads were built the T...

If you have...

Stan Howe Carburetors

When Stan Howe passed he had two Stromberg OFs of mine which he was to rebuild for me. Both were in fairly good shape, but I wanted Stan Howe rebuilds so I would know they were right. I also sent...

Re: Battery cables - 00 guage

A lot of it has to do with climate. In a relatively dry area like Vegas corrosion should not be too much of a problem. I am in Central Va where we have a lot of humidity. It is not just T cables...

Re: Battery cables - 00 guage

There is a good chance that your old cables had corrosion on the inside of the terminals where it contacts the wire. The cable will read good with a standard ohmeter, but there is resistance to a...

Re: Lots of A's but not so many T's

There are lots of Ts out there, that is the main reason they are so low in price. I know of onw guy who owns more than 30, none in driving condition. I probably know another dozen people who won 4...

Re: Reasons to get a Model T

You need to drive one to see if there is enough room to be comfortable. Foot size matters as the pedals are close together. I think you will find the 26 - '27 Fordor has the most room with the most...

Re: Sealing oil leaks?

The majority of the people on MTFCA are knowledgeable and friendly, but there are some cranky codgers who get tired of newbie questions. I identified myself as a newbie who knew nothing of T's and...

You don't need to join MTFCA to find answers there.

Google Search your question like this: "MTFCA oil leaks"

This is something that has been discussed many times on MTFCA, archived, and will...

Re: best engine oil for stock 17 model T

I think Ford said to change it every 500 miles.

I use hour meters on my cars and change the oil every 20 hours. If I average 25 mph 20 hours equals 500 miles.

Re: TT differential to a T defferential

Most TT's come from the factory with 7:1 rear. That equals 17 mph.

5:1 gears will give an easy 25 mph, and if you run high rpm will give you 35.

5:1 gears are scarce and relatively expensive. ...

Re: A good start & for sale

The link says "SOLD" so I guess it is worth $750 to someone!

I think it worth more due to the value of parts which are getting hard to find. If I were building a TT I would buy it for $750 in a...

Re: A good start & for sale

Not enough info. Is the rear axle 2 speed? Does it have 5:1 gears? is the engine and transmission locked up? The cab is probably worth $500. Doors probably worth several hundred. And the rims on...
