Hello,

I am putting a 31 Fordor body on my frame and replaced the body blocks and bolts. How tight should the bolts be? This body has 3/8” and 7/16” body bolts. Should you torque them to say 20...

Re: Model A Oil Pan on Model B engine

So if you put that modified pan on a A engine, would you expect it to leak out the rear of the oil pan?

Re: Model A Oil Pan on Model B engine

A bit more info.. starting with a clean oil pan, in 10 minutes at idle I have a stream of oil coming from the rear of the oil pan all the way to the center of the oil pan, and then it drips to the...

Model A Oil Pan on Model B engine

Hello.. I had an oil leak on the front of my Model A engine oil pan that resulted from my crank pulley coming loose last year. It tore up the inside of the front pan where the seal goes, and I...

Re: 1929 Ford Model A. Front Windshield shifted on hinge

In my case the windshield frame hits the hood because my wood is pretty bad above the windshield. I got my screws to hold tight when I shoved dowels in the holes, but the wood frame is so bad that...

Re: front disc brake conversion

The above picture is interesting.. it appears that you used 39?-41 hubs that had the drums on the outside, and put the disc on the back side. Is that what you did? I like the idea.. still learning...

Re: Quality New Front Leaf Spring

Yeah, it rides pretty well considering it has 12 leafs. My original spring had 11 leafs. The Eaton Detroit website says the Tudor sedan originally had a 12 leaf spring with thinner leafs, and it was...

Re: Cracked Weld On Rear Main Oil Drain

All good points.. I have to pull the pan once more to fix my oil leak, so I will check all your recommendations I will also pull the rear main cap to fix this, and check the clearance. Also need to...

Re: Cracked Weld On Rear Main Oil Drain

I agree with that.. my question is.. if the oil drain tube is loose at the rear main bearing cap, Will that cause more oil to leak out the back?

Cracked Weld On Rear Main Oil Drain

Hi everyone.. My model a was leaking a bit of oil out of the rear pan gasket so I dropped the pan and replaced the seals. I didn’t do it right and need to redo it, as it leaks more now than before.....

Re: Quality New Front Leaf Spring

I put a 12 leaf Detroit Eaton spring in the front of my 30 Tudor to replace the 11 leaf spring. I didn’t know the age of the old spring and it was noticeably flatter than the new spring. It fit well...

Re: B Carb Runs Lean @45 MPH

I hadn’t really considered the GAV.. I will try that. I also suspect a vacuum leak as I have used this same distance and speed for years to check my carb.. I can get the plugs to go tan in this...

B Carb Runs Lean @45 MPH

Hello.. have a model a with a 6-1 head, big valves, touring cam, lightened flywheel, T-5 and a model B carb. Jets were flow tested but that’s just a starting point. I ran at 45 mph steady for 5...

Re: Mechanical Brakes adjustment

Once I adjusted my brakes for the 3rd time I took a slightly different approach.. I found a dirt road, got up to 20 mph and hit the brakes. The marks in the dirt will tell you which wheel are...

Re: Marvel Mystery Oil in Crankcase

The reason I use MMO in my fuel tank is that it gets sloshed around and the inside of the tank eventually gets covered with a light coat of oil.. it won’t stop all rust, but it definitely slows it...

Re: Rear Main Bearing Oil Behavior

I reringed my model a engine and now have a rear main leak. Any thoughts on how long it takes for rings to seat? I know it's a loaded question.. I had a couple thou clearance about 1' down between...

Re: Rear Main Cap Oil Drain Pipe Dimensions

What happens if you extend the tube to say 5 inches? Does that help reduce oil out the rear into the bellhousing area, or does it make it worse?

Re: Interpreting Compression Test Results

Yes, all bearings are babbitt. The rods are all between .001 and .0015.. I was pleasantly surprised. I have had this car for 5 years with probably 400 miles on it. Due to a recent drawn out move the...

Re: Interpreting Compression Test Results

The bores all look pretty good. No real scars are visible other than the occasional streak down the pistons. I honed them and put new rings in.
