Re: Dry Camshaft Gear

I took Archimedes advice and got a two foot steel pipe from Lowes, slipped it over the socket wrench, secured the gear from turning, and slowly pulled on the special tool shown above.....and it...

Re: Dry Camshaft Gear

OK, thanks all. I've got a new aluminum gear ready to put on as soon as I can get the old gear off. Sounds like I need to pull the pan and take a look at the pump, just to be sure. The car was...

Dry Camshaft Gear

My camshaft gear striped, and I've read that is not uncommon. It looks like a replacement 'fiber' type. I say replaced, because the connector bolt has chisel marks where someone has removed it in...

Re: What’s this Box???

Your 'box' in question is the 'terminal box', in Whirnot's diagram. Left-right doesn't matter so much as getting all of the wires aligned on the appropriate side......

Re: Original Price?

But reading the 'included's in the advertisement, I do see 'five steel-spoke wheels'..... Maybe no spare tire is what I heard.

Re: Original Price?

Jim/Ga/TX - Are you sure? Seems like I heard somewhere bumpers and spare wheels/tires were not included as standard equipment....

Re: Original Price?

Note on the left picture that none of the models shown have bumpers. A few bucks extra for them.....

Re: just aquired 1931 Model A, help diagnosing oil leak

If you don't need to time the engine right now, just find a short bolt that fits the threads and insert it. If it seems to be 'hitting' something inside, that would be the timing gear (camshaft...

Re: misdiagnosis based on assumptions

Back in the day my Dad's (now mine) '29 Tudor had the same 'no-go' symptoms, and my Dad immediately though clutch slippage, or transmission issues. He was going to pull the engine to start work...

Re: How much better was the last Model A than the first?

I believe the early 1928 Pheatons did NOT have outside door handles. An obvious improvement.....

Does anyone have a nice picture of just where the firewall date should be stamped on a 1929 Tudor? Hopefully that is some consistency in where it is stamped, between the different assembly plants. ...
