To remove the drive shaft with pinion from the center housing can not be done. The pinion has to be removed from the shaft. Tom Enddy has information on rear end rebuilding that is great reading !

That's been a problem for some in the past, adding a ground wire from the battery to the engine may solve your problems! Control rods and engine pans aren't a good ground path.

You shouldn't need to remove the oil pan, just remove the oil fill cap! I would only use 60 lbs of compressed air.

You have fuel at the carb, check if fuel is in the carb. Remove the carb drain to see if you have fuel flowing through!
