Re: options for electronic ignition conversion on my '41

Re: Ok you asked for it. Finding TDC by solid stop and cable tie method. Plus extras!

Thank you, Mart, for taking the time to explain and video both the cable tie and the head off method. I'm thinking that you would always want to make a pointer and pulley mark on every flathead you...

Re: '40 Muffler/Tailpipe Replacement?

Fred, looks like G&G has the tailpipe for your '40. A local muffler shop can help you with a muffler and the installation, if you want to farm that out. The shipping up to you in Encino shouldn't...

Cool Re: 46 Ford Super Deluxe Door Locks

Tubman, that vent window trick is very cool!!! Wish I'd thought of it on some of my attempts at "customizing" some of my rides back in the late 50's when I was really into some of those projects!!

Talking Re: Muffler review

John, in the meantime, you could turn that "original 35 muffler" that you saved $$ up for as a wonderful piece of shop wall art until you get a chance and the motivation to install it!!:D

Keep the window down when testing the inside handles as a locking mechanism. (the inside handles both lock and unlock) Agree with you, JSeery, sounds like this "body work" was done back in the old...

Re: 46 Ford Super Deluxe Door Locks

The key is about 3.75" below the handle mounding. And, the interior handles will lock the doors from the inside. As Stud said above, I'd start by pulling the door panel and see how a PO might have...

Re: Crab Distributor Question

Tom, I'm going from memory here, but it seems like the pad on mine is more "leatherlike" than felt. Would it be possible to cut a new one to size and then superglue it to the piston? A hole punch...

Re: Muffler review

I have 26" Smithy's on my '47 behind Red's Headers. I was/am surprised by how quite they are, but I still get to hear that great Flathead sound. Definitely not loud inside the car, with or without...

Re: Oil around spark plugs

Bob, in your trouble shooting, test one thing at a time. Otherwise, you won't know if the problem is the plugs or the oiler. JMO.
