Re: 8ba questions

I have never seen a breather system with that small of diameter tube. The gases are going to be moving pretty quick in that tube.

Re: Electric fans

It sounds like you have a fairly restrictive cooling package if the 16" pusher fan can't push air through it. I do not think blocking the air flow in the upper quadrant of the fan shroud is a good...

Re: '38 Ford gear oil flowing from trans to diff??

Great looking rear axle. I still have to tackle that job. Be sure to install an anti-squeak pad for the rear spring, between the spring and the crossmember.

Re: Disc brakes swap/old advertisments

The Summer 1971 edition of Street Rod Quarterly had a step by step article on installing Mustang disc brakes on an Early V-8 Ford.

Reread the article last night and it pertains more to Model A and...

Re: What in Tarnation?

Cummins also put a Diesel on the pole for the 1952 Indy 500 race. Check out this video and compare the Cummins car to the others. Its a beautiful race car.

Re: '49-'53 8BA or 8CM Heads

There is a table in Joe Abbin's book, "Ford & Mercury Flathead V-8 Identification and Rebuilder's Guide" that shows the characteristics of all the stock cylinder heads, table 7-1 on page 7-3. There...

Re: 1933 model b pops out of 3 gear into neitral

I am guessing the cause of the transmission popping out of third gear is due to excessive end play in the trans or the springs in the synchronizer are getting weak. I would probably remove the top...

Re: Flathead FAQs

So, what term should we use, FE or Windsor? I have a 1937 with the 85 hp engine. I always tell people that it is the "big" engine compared to the 60 hp. Now I'll have to rethink that description. ...

Re: 226 h ring gear

Per the Green Bible, the six cylinder engines use 20A-6384-A (112 teeth) and tne V8's use B-6384-A (112 teeth). It doesn't specify the inside diameter of the gears.

Re: Spark Plug Leads Change 34

I would add a wire to the end of the coil wire on the left side conduit and pull the coil wire out so that I could work on the conduit on the bench. Then you have a wire to pull the coil wire back...

Re: Speedway’s Valve Train Components

Dang, I missed that detail, or don't remember it, the first time I read through JWL's book. I guess I need to read it again. Is that going to be on the test?

Re: Fender braces

Interesting, the 48-16067 and 48-16068 braces do not show up in either my June, 1937 Chassis Parts List or the "Green Bible" parts book. They look like the braces that attach to the gusset that is...

I have a 1937 car and the fender braces that year mounted from the frame behind each wheel to a tab on the fender just behind the wheel opening. One bolt at the frame and one at the fender. I am...

Re: hammer size

Looks like Henry used about an 8 oz. ball peen hammer on the first V-8. He was stamping on cast iron in this photo.

I haven't seen a straight, evenly spaced serial number on an early V-8 Ford,...

Re: Motoring through Olde England

I also enjoy Mart's videos. I wished I had watched his video on removing block studs before I tackled that task. About 1 year too late.

A few more rides with Mart and I'll know which exit to...

Re: Dash color

Autocolorlibrary.com 1935 Ford shows interior colors on page 3 midway down on the right side of the page. It says an interior color was Verona Maroon. I am assuming this was the color used on the...
