Re: Installing Rear Hub On A '40

Tim. In my experience, when a shaft is machined properly, the finish is nice and shiny. Some machinists can get a finish that is mirror like. When two parts are lapped together with compound, the...

Re: Installing brake switch on 1940 master cylinder

I had a problem with the brake switch on my '46, and replaced it with a switch from Harley Davidson, P/N 72023-51E. I cost me C$30.00 with tax, probably $20.00 US. Works well for me.

Re: radial tires

Not familiar with the brand of tire you are asking about for the front, but assuming you have bias tires on the rear, you should not mix radials and bias tires. There are a lot of posts here, if you...

Re: Ignition key

I'm not familiar with the 34's, but I had a problem with my '46 ignition key worn to the point where I had to wiggle to get the lock to work, and it was the only one I had. What I found out, was...

Re: '40 S-W odometer disassembly

What is it with 999? The odometer out of my '46 did the same, so I sent it out for repair. Got it back, installed, and it worked okay until the "magic" 999 rolled around. I will leave it for the...

Re: Tyres are getting expensive.....

In 2018, I wanted to buy a set of 6:00X16 Firestone WWW bias tires for my '46 Coupe. I got prices from two sellers near where I live in Ontario, Canada, and compared them to the price from Universal...

meric. I salvaged a KS sender from a '51 for my '46. I cleaned the contacts with 1000 grit paper, then slid a strip of printer paper through to remove any residual. I did cause myself some...

We have warm weather up here in Canada, although only for one week a year.:D It was 35 degrees Celsius +/- 95 F the other day, and the car ran along quite happy at 185 F. The only thing is the AC...

Re: Flathead running cold

In follow-up to securing stats in place. There was a post on here, or on the Early Ford V8 site, where someone described inserting a short (1 1/2" +/-) piece of rad hose that fits tight into the...

Re: Flathead Cylinder Heads

I'm not that familiar with "hopping up" a flathead, but I don't think just changing the cylinder heads on a stock engine will help all that much, other than what Ol' Ron says. Another few horsepower...

Mr42. My apologies for my post on safety. The event I described stuck with me as something I will never forget. The work you did was very impressive, and quite well done. Again, my apologies.
