Re: Safety first . . .

Reminds me of when I worked on a house renovation and was helping a guy cut a hole in a plaster ceiling with metal lath. The grinder caught and grabbed his shirt. Thankfully it was a heavy shirt...

Re: Biggest scare in a Model A

Sadly, I'm sure you're right... defensive driving can only get you so far :(

Had a very close call on the way back from Rochester two weeks ago. On I-90 eastbound in the right lane going 70 and...

Re: Rear spring shackle

You're right, I typed 9/16 and thought 7/16:rolleyes:

Re: Rear spring shackle

The problem (or maybe not a problem) is that the shackle pin is maybe 7/16" and the bore of the bushing is over 1/2".

I installed those same shackles and was not impressed with the fit of the...

Re: BackFlushing Radiator and Engine

What I did that made a huge difference, 30CCPU basically said above. First I filled the cooling system with distilled water and added a tab of dishwasher detergent to degrease. Ran it for a couple...

Re: Biggest scare in a Model A

They just didn't cut it in my opinion. Bright but unfocused and even with a dedicated ground I would get flickering and occasionally a light would cutout completely. Never had that problem with...

Re: Biggest scare in a Model A

Just remembered another. Was driving home from chauffeuring a wedding and decided to turn on the dash light to check my speed. Turned it on and immediately lost all lights and engine... then I...

Re: Biggest scare in a Model A

Scariest moment I've had was this past June coming home at night I hit a deer. I had just switched from LED bulbs back to the 50/32s and hadn't readjusted the height of the beam so it was low... if I...

Re: Synthetic 680

Previous owner could have put in who knows what. I think a club member may have sold a '30 Pickup recently. PM me and I may know more details.

In any case, I would order a quart of 600W from...

Re: Synthetic 680

By all means give it a shot. But, like redmodelt, I haven't had any trouble with the 600W from the vendors. I've been using Brattons with good results. What supplier did you get yours from?

Re: Tail light / Switch Issues

My immediate thought is that you have bad grounds on the passenger side tail light. A quick check would be to run a jumper from the tail light housing to a good ground.

I would be checking the...

Re: steering stabilizer

Mine will be coming off when I rebuild the front end and steering box over the winter. My front end is on the loose side of acceptable currently and the stabilizer gives me peace of mind.

Re: Gear Tooth Pitting

That gear also has a lot of wear from clashing the teeth. The first gear section on my old cluster had about that much wear. Found a good used one from a club member, they are out there. I wouldn't...

Re: Reliability

If the car is running and driving I would first start with steering and brakes. Take it all back to Ford specs or pursue any of the many "upgrade" options. Properly done though, stock brakes and...

Re: Trans oil leaking from speedo housing

Transmission takes about half a quart so it'll definitely be looking for a way out if you put in a quart.

Re: Radius rod ball rubber cover mod

Thatís one reason I think a lot of people have bad opinions of the rubber ball. If the radius ball is already worn the rubber wonít fit as tightly and youíll probably still get unwanted movement of...

Re: Weight of complete transmission and bell housing

It might be 75lbs but I think it's a little lighter. I'm not a big guy but I picked up the assembly, got it through the passenger door and installed it by myself. One hand in the inspection cover...

Re: 1931 Roadster

Yeah, can't say I've ever seen a standard 30-31 roadster. Lots and lots of deluxe and deluxified though.

Re: My 1st decent drive of Model A and discussion

I doubled up O-rings on my motometer and now it seals tight and any extra water goes out the overflow instead of all over my windshield.

I also agree about sticking with the stock non-synchro...
