Re: Tips/suggestions for driving rear bearing on to shaft on a '39 transmission

Yes, tip the trans on end but the shaft needs to be supported individually. Heat the bearing in a preheated oven set at 200 degrees for 10 minutes. If the housing bore and the shaft are both clean of...

Re: Sea Foam induction... your thoughts?

Sea foam, as I use it, is used occasionally to help free up stuck valves or lifters on a running engine. Works great on gummed up or oil fouled internals but use it and get it out of there. It is an...

Re: Draining a gas tank

Isnt the tank in the cab? Reason I asked is because I just did the same thing on my 1967 C30. Moved the seat forward and there is the sending unit mounted towards the top of the tank. From the...

Don't ask the joker, the penguin or mr. freeze. They've been trying for years and got nowhere.

Re: Michigan classic car laws help ?

1) With proper tags on the vehicle, you can drive it whenever you want. 2) Yes, you need at least one tail/brake light on your model A. 3) In Illinois, the laws regarding seat belts goes by when the...

Re: Carb Spacer

Could be a fuel pump problem. I was recently having a vapor lock problem with a 77 chevy truck with a 400 small block and a good rebuilt quadrajet. Kept seeing online that the fuel pump could be weak...

New head studs or no

Getting ready to tear down my late 31 four banger. My question to you guys is this. Should I plan on reusing the original head studs or not? They are coming out easy. On newer engines they always...

Re: What are the must haves for you're shop?

Less clutter. Keep it clean and you wont lose things like I do in my shop. Time for a major cleanup.

Re: Hey Fellas... Some Clarification...

I visit Ford Barn and The Hamb daily. Love both sites equally. It does not take a whole lot of brain power to figure out where posts or questions should be directed. But it really does not bother me...

Re: Truck Brightwork Question

BadgerA asked if stainless was offered on the late 31 pickups. We know that A/C or FM radio was not offered as an option, I'd wager that you could ask for stainless in lieu of painted. Why not?...

Re: Truck Brightwork Question

When I bought my late 31 steeltop widebed, which was a rusted untouched field find, it had all stainless. I have purchased original mild steel headlights and shroud, which will be painted. Don't know...

Re: Truck Brightwork Question

I'm saying that this age old question may never be answered. It's been discussed at great length and nobody has ever come up with solid information to settle it either way. Since there is no answer,...

Re: Truck Brightwork Question

I thought we settled this awhile ago. The solid answer to whether or not the pickups came with stainless or painted mild steel is YES.

Re: Late 31 Pickup metal work needed- Do they not make subframe parts?

Is there anybody in the Chicago area that has an unmolested late 31 pickup that
I could come and measure? I could make accurate drawings and supply them to anybody that wants them

Re: Late 31 Pickup metal work needed- Do they not make subframe parts?

It would be awesome to come up with actual mechanical drawings of the parts in question. I understand that nobody wants to invest in tooling to stamp these out because of the low returns on the...
