Re: Axle Quick fix seals which direction?

Fourspeed, if you do replace them and the axles have grooves where it rides, make a couple 3/16" spacers to move the seal slightly where it runs on the axle. That is easier then putting on a speedy...

Re: Axle Quick fix seals which direction?

Forespeed, Yeah those will keep the oil out of your drum for a while. Keep in mind those are a band aid kind of fix. I would use one on a road trip but I don't think any that you find would be less...

Re: Axle Quick fix seals which direction?

I agree with Kube, by using a micrometer and replacing the banjo gaskets with exactly the thickness that was there, it doesn't take all that long if you have a good spring spreader. Granted, I have...

Re: 'Ford' 'FoMoCo' script,,,, paint/marker (?)

If your car is for the concourse, you might want to leave the script off. That orange script Drake puts on the top 40 radiator hoses should get you a point deduction. Lacquer thinner will remove it.

Re: Thermostats Recommended for 36 Ford?

It depends a lot on how efficient the radiator is, and as mentioned above, how clean the inside of the engine is. Every situation is different. My avatar when my newly rebuilt engine was installed...

Re: Brake shoe interchange

Hmmm, I guess I have it in my mind backwards! Not the first time!

Re: Brake shoe interchange

I think it would depend if the bushing that goes in the bottom hole for the later shoe will fit the earlier shoe with the round hole since the later shoe has the hole with 2 flats. You probably know...

Re: 1940 Ford deluxe help with a speaker grill problem

Well, as stated, Repro parts almost never fit well. Could be you got a blem. If none of the Drake speaker grilles fit I think we would have heard here that it was a major problem. I hadn't heard...

Re: 1940 Ford deluxe help with a speaker grill problem

I seem to remember that the grille fits pretty tightly on the 2 vertical side openings of the hole. If no bodywork has been done to the dash, I would carefully file the flat vertical side parts of...

Re: 1932 Ford V8 emblem questions

I have an NOS one and it has the part # on the back. I will take a picture of it and post in my MISC photo folder a little bit later.
OK, photos in my public album MISC. You can see the part#...

ctaulbert, please describe what was done wrong. All bondo? Patch panels welded in wrong? I know things always look better in pictures but from what I see, I wouldn't mind having that 33 as a...

Re: Powder Coat Removal??

If it was a good job with powder primer, and epoxy powder, just sand it and paint it with whatever color you want. If it was just sandblasted and coated without primer and cheap styrene powder, then...

Re: Power steering pump on a flathead

Merc Cruizer, Thanks. 30 years ago I had a 53 Merc with power steering and a MercOmatic but I don't remamber anything about the pump or where it mounted, or what it even looked like. At the top of...

Re: 48-6044 Rod, engine radius purpose.

Ford called them "engine stay rods" as they keep the rear end and t-tube from shoving the engine forward. They were discontinued when they went to open drivelines. 8BAs do not have a place for them...

Re: Underhood carnage on my F-1

Yeah, a friend of mine with a 54 Y block had a blade come off and exit the hood. I NEVER stand in line with a spinning fan. They do work harden and break as theorized above. My 40s both have NOS...

Re: How to remove distributor caps 1936

What transbytip said. I was going to write the same thing. I use a piece of wood dowel to tap one side out from the coil opening then go in from the removed side straight across and tap the other...
