Re: Need help planning a site-seeing trip to Detroit

You could spend a week just seeing the places you've listed. If your there in mid August you can catch the Woodward Dream Cruise. Basically an all day traffic jam of classic/muscle cars. Best to just...

Re: 66 fairlane

Though not related to your concern, I had a fun experience with a Fairlane linkage. Picked up a 61 Starliner and it never steered correctly and pulled to the right consistently. I knew the linkage on...

Re: 1965 230 six carb question

Repaired cars for 40+yrs. and ran into things like that too many time. Hated to tell the customer he needed more (usually something not related to original repair) and some would get POed.
Way back...

Re: Two-Door Ford and Mercury Wagons

Here's my new project I just started. 1960 Ford Courier. Going to lower it all around and it will have a 302/C4 to move it down the road.

Re: Aerostar coil springs

I wanted the progressive rate as much as the lowering the Aerostar coils give. I think the link to energysuspensionparts Jeff posted for the spacers, along with Aerostar coils will get me to where...

Won't work on a 57 but it will on a 56. I've owned both.

Re: 9 inch Ford rearend oil capacity

X2 what Don said. Don't spill any on yourself or clothes. You won't be allowed in the house.

Re: Aerostar coil springs

Thanks for the response. Did a little research on the HAMB and found the the Aerostar springs will fit but it lowers the front so much to the point the tires rub. A bit lower than I'm looking for....

Aerostar coil springs

I know they work well in Ford cars up to 59 but has anyone used them in a 60-64 full sized Ford? Have a project going on here on a 60 wagon and would rather use the Aerostar springs than cut the...

Re: spark plugs

I'll go along with BF82, BRF82 and BSF82. That's what Ford went with when they switched to Motorcraft.

Re: My steering box blew up!

The third pic you posted shows a "plug" by itself next to the sector arm cover. That " plug" is actually a vent and fill plug for your steering box. Fill it here until the lube just weeps out the...

Re: Great northern route 2

When I lived in Mi. I took US2 from St. Ignace to Glacier NP in Mt. Didn't take a car, rode my Harley. Great trip. From freezing in the UP, being attacked by mosquitoes at a campsite in ND. to...

Re: Wedging clutch plate levers before clutch removal

Done this plenty of times. Had to do this mostly on bigger trucks to allow easier removal of the disc and pressure plate. When you wedged the fingers, the pressure plate retracts and makes it easier...

Re: The cars that made America.

I'm hooked. Ford started out good but it seems like it all went to his head. His treatment of Edsel certainly wouldn't make anyone's "how to" list.

Re: 406 duel point

My 406 dual point dist takes the "straight" points but they are not the same as the 6 cyl straight points. Found that out the hard way. The difference is the rubbing block is on the opposite side of...

Re: tri-power problems

In my earlier post about this I mentioned using base plates from Vintage speed. To me the key to a good running 3x2 set up is sealing off the outer carbs so they don't affect the idle quality. I've...

Re: tri-power problems

I've been running 3x2's on my 57 for about 8 yrs. During most of that time I was never satisfied with the way it ran. The problem I kept chasing was sealing the outer carbs. Never could get them...
