Re: 39 coupe floor mat

Obviously with Ford, accurate color description was a bit of a grey area.

Re: How do I get pressure plate out.

You need to view the 11" clutch unit as a heavy truck application.

Re: Liner/bore question.

Thanks for the responses.

I'm not thinking of going to that size (.125) now, I was just wondering if it could be a possibility sometime in the future.

Cheers.

Mart.

Liner/bore question.

Hi guys.

In the decision making process regarding my crusty flatty rebuild, I have a question.

The liners I have used are the Mellings CSL205 1/8" wall sleeves.

The OD is 3.440. On one bore...

Re: 8BA doesnt have power

Trent. The 94 for the 8BA has a different base. It has a secondary port that has a special valve in it. I don't know the exact functionality of it but it is part of the loadamatic vac advance signal...

Re: 8BA doesnt have power

I couldn't see clearly enough in the video but do you have the correct carb base with the (can't remember the name) valve in it? It looks a bit like a power valve.

Also, probably not directly...

Re: Help Identify Clutch Pedal

That's what I found with my 33. Mine has 39 pedals in it. The X member leg gets seriously compromised. One of the jobs on my backburner to-do list is to rework back to 33 pedals with an hydraulic...

Re: Help Identify Clutch Pedal

I was thinking a 40 brake pedal too. The dog leg of the lower lever is the giveaway. It might be a mercury part. It's been bent so who can tell. It will have a part number on it so that would tell...

Re: 1936 Pickup High beam indicator light

It might be that it was thought unnecessary if you can tell by the position of the switch which is right in front of you on the steering wheel centre. Once a foot switch was introduced you couldn't...

Re: How do I get pressure plate out.

If the bolts seem to be almost at the outside edge, then it's an 11". Imagine if it was a 10", there would be enough space for another row of bolts a half inch further out than the 10" ones. If there...

Re: It's Friday. Time for a Flathead video. Crusty Flatty Pt.11.

Thanks for the comments fellas.

You've got me thinking there, Ol' Ron. That other piston sitting on the block in the later shots is 60 thou over.

It's Friday. Time for a Flathead video. Crusty Flatty Pt.11.

I run the vintage Buma boring bar through the non linered bores and take them to 45 thou over. I am still learning to use the machine but am getting the hang of it I think. I share my thoughts about...

Re: rear axle nut torque

This is my technique. I don't use castellated nuts. I use Philidas brand aircraft locking nuts.

I show it at about the 9:30 mark in this video.

Re: 21 stud Flathead pistons

If the engine is coming apart I'd turn them round. I had two that were like that on my 21 stud motor. I had it apart for another reason and just turned them around. It sounds daft but I'd try and...

Re: Looking for exhaust port layout drawing

You only need the outer holes so they will do for both sides.

Re: 1950 F1 door won't open...

You might be able to just push in the rear window, depending on how old/pliable the seal is.

Re: Adventures in gas tank restoration. '36

If they're the same as a 33 and a 40 which they probably are, they will be 10-32 UNF.

Re: Looking for exhaust port layout drawing

Make all the holes bigger than 7/16" so the adaptor can fit both sides. 1/2" is ok.

Re: Incorrect timing on pulley of 53' Mercury

Merc, just as a sanity check is the discrepancy in the pulley in the right direction to indicate slippage (or some other reason for turning due to load).

Re: Torque Value for rear wheel axle nut?

100 ft/lbs is nowhere near tight enough.
