Re: 5/16" id or 3/8" id fuel hose?

I run 1/4 inch fuel line with a 390 Holley and electric fuel pump on a flat head with a fuel regulator near the engine. No problems.

Re: 5/16" id or 3/8" id fuel hose?

If you can go with 1/4 inch to keep it all the same.
I am assuming rest of your fuel line from the tank is OEM 1/4 inch.
Use the hose that is intended for today's gas....

Re: HOW TO:REINSTALL POINTS CAM LOBE on 49-53 Ford Distributor

I agree with all the above posts. Like, tubman said, having things set up like the factory designated makes it easier for other folks to work on the car who may not be attuned to "custom" spark...

Re: HOW TO:REINSTALL POINTS CAM LOBE on 49-53 Ford Distributor

Thanks,. Like I said. Best to avoid removing the cam lobe in the first place.
The lobes rarely wear down.
If you ever do have to remove it ,only use a small puller...

Re: Need some bolts

Try 1/4-28 UNF. They look like the bolts on a fan hub. I think Ford may have made his own special bolts but, I recall using 1/4-28 bolts.

Re: Whats the secret to removing the oil filter?

That drain plug in the bottom of the filer is a good idea.
Breaks the vacuum/suction effect.
Might give it a try.

Re: Whats the secret to removing the oil filter?

If you pull directly up without twisting it a little oil will go all over the place.

Re: Flatheads breaking off engine stands and falling.

Not that it's pertinent but , in 1973 I had my present 8BA block roll off a 4 wheel tool cart while going down a ramp ,breaking off a corner near the bottom of bell housing flange. Welded it back...

Re: Flatheads breaking off engine stands and falling.

Good points Phillip but. I liken a 3 point engine stand to a 3 point jack stand. All it takes is one little piece of stone, etc. on the floor.

Re: Flatheads breaking off engine stands and falling.

It's just as important to make sure you use an engine stand that has 4 BIG casters touching the ground.

Re: Distributor to 1951 255 8BA

tubman: Thanks for pointing out my "strength". $25 per set is fine as long as they are USA made. Didn't know you were making condensers. That's great. Hope they sell like hot cakes.
