Re: 180 Degree Thermostat "Hunting"

You could try moving the thermostat to...

Re: Head gasket

Just curious. Have you taken a compression test, just to see how high it is? Stock Model A is 65 psig. They will ping if too far advanced. Maybe enrichen the GAV a little.

I got the spring from "A" Springs (http://www.a-springs.com/products.html), bushing pre-installed. I replaced the shackles and bushings in the...

Re: Head gasket

I use a Pancake Head basket on mine, never a problem. https://youtu.be/5ae4NDjHr4Y

Sorry, I had to go there...

I prefer Best's Graphtite Head Gaskets. Some copper gaskets seem to 'weep' out the...

Re: spark plug caps

Hi, I didn't actually use my drill press to drill the hole, just to mark center with a " drill bit. Sorry for the confusion.

When I drilled the hole I used a 5/16" drill bit and held the cap...

Re: Teflon EZ Steer Kit what do you think?

I installed the teflon kit. Didn't make a real big difference but helped some. Ensure your balls are round...:eek:

Like Bill said, the shorter pitman arm made a big difference.

Awesome. I put a " drill bit in my drill press and without turning it on pressed down on the inside of the cap to mark the center. Tamp, tamp, turn tamp tamp... Then drilled it from the inside with...

Re: spark plug caps

I used a light coating 'Black Onyx Patina for all metals'. Update: Don't use this paint. I was just polishing my copper caps with Nevr-Dull and it took this paint off!!

I can imagine any...

Re: spark plug caps

Thanks, I just took Bob-As idea and ran with it. I am pretty pleased with how they look.

I'm sure they get "energized" just like a brass capped 3X Champion but should not effect the running of...

I had some of those caps so I tried one out. It really changes the look of the plug. I had darkened the base in the past to look more aged. The screw on top came from the hardware store also.

Re: 1954-Orphan Ford OHV V8 (Y Block)

The 'Ford Y-Block' book by James Eickman does a pretty good job of listing the differences of the Cleveland and Dearborn 239 Y-Blocks.

As mentioned, stay away from the Dearborn engines as it is...

Originally drums are ~11" ID. Check from shoe to shoe to...

Re: Brake light problem

First thing I would do is check your grounds. Sounds like when you step on the brake light the voltage is trying to backflow thru the running light instead of going to ground. Hence the running light...
