The 41A gasket is the correct gasket for the 81A engine. You will note the small coolant holes are at the front and the rear coolant holes are larger.

Suggest you get a copy of the Early Ford V8 Club of America 1938-39 restoration manual. It can answer many questions. the book is sold on their web site.

When I saw the photo of your engine I thought it was 85HP if it is, you want a 94 marked 91-99 made by Holley (embossed with H)

I agree with the shoe retaining clip is bent. Is the brake shoe retracting spring installed properly? Cracked rubber boot on the brake cylinder? I do not see the clip that retains the hand brake...

The original Carb for your car is the Holley 91-99 it should be marked on the side of the middle body. Daytona sells a good rebuilding kit.

Batt terminal - to regulator case+ engine RPM need to be increased to see full generator output. Use an analog meter 7.0 to 7.7 v is good but 7.2 to 7.5 is better.

Just the spring, heavy T shaped cup and the threaded cap. Should not have a problem. I understand the new springs are not as good as originals may want to think of using the original springs.

As a suggestion remove the dash gauge and jumper everything on the bench, if it works there, it is a problem with wiring, loose or dirty connections.
