Re: 6V boost from 12

While a different procedure, I've used a portable 12 volt battery pack to start a 6 volt vehicle many times. As has been mentioned, no lights or accessories on, connect the pack to the battery, ...

Re: Merc At The Car Show

Glad the Merc performed. The longer trip at road speeds was a welcome exercise, I'm sure.

Re: 49 ford door adjustment

The adjustment technique for the trucks involves a 2x4 in various positions and pushing against the door. I would expect that the same approach would work for you.

Re: 46-48 Ford hood alignment

The article that woodie mentioned is the best reference. Lacking that, most of the adjustment is at the cowl - specifically the bolts that extend under the dash area. Things work a bit opposite of...

Re: Signal-stat 900 turn signal on positive ground

I'm running Signal Stats on both of my old vehicles . The indicator light works on one but not the other. I attributed the non operational version to the 'as-is' seller description. The units have...

Re: 1949 F1 Regulator Problem

Re: 1940 Ford 1/2 ton interior kits

Yup, hog rings for the upholstery. You'll want to invest in a better version of the ring pliers if you value your hands.

Re: 1940 Ford 1/2 ton restoration sequence?

Kube's questions are spot on.

Re: 1940 Ford 1/2 ton interior kits

I've used Cartouche kits on a 49 half ton and a 46 Tudor and was satisfied with the results on both.

Re: 49 flathead rebuild. Fuel?

I have a freshly rebuilt 239 V8 59ab stock style setup and am running regular unleaded - same as my original everything I6 226 in the '49. The lead substitute products contain mostly clever...

Re: Sparte tire carrier on a 48/52 pick up

In my case, same as the other 650-16 bias ply tube type; bone stock here. The under bed carrier can't handle anything much wider than these. The radial tire users need to modify the carrier or...

Re: 6 volt regulator

The short answer is: not sure. While I had a well regarded rebuild shop look at a generator for the '46, I learned that their experience had been that many are not good fresh out of the box. In...
