Re: Powerhouse overcharging

5 brush, called P2 in the Restorer article last year. Battery is new, all contacts cleaned, new earth strap. I'll check the field coil ground again.

Powerhouse overcharging

Having stripped, cleaned everything, replaced field coils, fitted a diode kit in the cutout, it now charges well, TOO well. I can't get it to drop below 20amps at cruising speed. I've read quite a...

Re: Restoring powerhouse genny - any info available?

Thanks. I'm not in MAFCA but may find a friend with that magazine. I have rewound coils from a parts vendor which I trust are correct and will note the location of the old ones before they come out.

Horn/light switch problem

I took this '28 RPU apart about 12 yrs ago and I'm finally at the last stages of re-assembly.

Overhauled the Sparton horn, fooled around taking the horn rod out to cleanup the horn button, all...

Re: 12volt or not?

Thanks for the opinions, my gut feeling is to stay 6v. I have an Optima on my Model A and that's the route I will go.

12volt or not?

My battery just died. Is now the time to think of 12v? Bearing in mind this is a 23,000 mile original paint & interior car and bone stock otherwise.

Re: cool old french ford for sale

I'm no expert on Matford, but I don't think that model had the 85hp at any time, it should have been 60. I have seen pictures of a couple still with the 4main motor. Has the grille been messed about...

Re: Installing MGB lever Shocks on 39 Pickup

I put Armstrong's on my 35 but had to fit them upside down on the front to avoid fouling the axle. Work just fine.

Re: English De Luxe Fordor for Dave Bockman

My friend Bert Thomas had an E28 AF Tudor, I could outrun it with my Model T. Gutless! My mate Willy had 30 RHD Fordor with leather interior, the new owner 'vandalised' it by fitting a Lebarron...

Oops, sorry, we're talking Model A so the tank isn't at the back.

Re: Anyone running a 6v fuel pump that is quiet?

I'm running a British SU, it just clicks every second. They come in 2 versions, a 'sucker' to mount near the motor, or a 'pusher' to mount at the tank. You wouldn't hear the one by the tank.

Re: E28 powerhouse generator parts

Yes, that's what I used to do, set the charge so it matched the headlamps. Right now the project isn't finished, no headlamps yet!

Re: E28 powerhouse generator parts

Super glue worked, but now it won't charge. I had been trying to reduce the charge from 10amps 'cos I knew that would boil a lead-acid battery and I am running an Optima and had no idea what...

E28 powerhouse generator parts

Just broke my generator. As this an early pre Oct 28 5 brush unit, this part is probably unobtainable. Guess I have to try a repair.

Re: stromberg elictronic distributor

Only problem I had was starting on 6volt, the battery had to be fully charged otherwise the starter robbed the dizzy of power. Changed back to helmet and it fires up even if left for a month
