You need to look at Triton Trailers. I have a 20' beavertail with a 5' Vee . It was designed for sleds , atv's and also cars/ trucks . They are 8'6" wide and offer different heights up to 7'6". mine...

There is more than just drilling the hole on top unless they just filled the hole. Many end up reshaping the top of the shell before filling.

I have not seen fender welting as we know it used on these trucks but have seen gasket type material between the box and the fender.

A real must is a slop sink to keep things cleaned as well as a toilet.

Correction. It got 90 to degrees in Fairbanks today. You are correct. We sometimes put stuff in the refrigerator to prevent from freezing.

If you do not have good sheet metal skills and equipment, I would leave the car alone. Besides that hump back is better looking in my opinion.
