Re: Oil splatter ??

Hi Jerry,

this is due to the fact that the combustion gases condense in the cold exhaust during a cold start. Water forms with soot. That squirts out of the tailpipe. This is normal with every...

Re: Front Brake (?) Noise

Hi,

it is possible that the conical wheel bearingscrew has released a little too much and therefore touching the brake drum on the edges of the brake shoes?

Re: Flooding in Germany

Guten Abend Mitmenschen!

We had very, very luck and got off safely, because we are living on a high area. Electricity, water and i-Net are partially available again.

Others have lost their...

Oil pump pressure/delivery

Guten Abend.

Is there a data sheet for the delivery rate of the oil pump and the oil pump pressure against a closed pressure line?

Or has someone made their own approximate measurements? ...

Re: Bade brake performance

Keith,

I'm not very sure I got it right. I have unscrewed all four cones (anticounterclockwise as far as it will go).

Then I clicked the brake pedal with the wooden rifle on the third step. ...

Re: Bade brake performance

Yes well, of course I installed the Ted-floaters on the front axle.

Yes, I have adjusted the brakes in short frequently, especially since all the brake shoes are new and must still rubbing in.

Re: Bade brake performance

I completely overhauled the brakes 500 mls ago. They do not block when driving forward on a good road.

I had the braking force measured [unit: daN]:

Front axle left 200 right 235

Re: FRONT model A ‘modern’ seal use.

The modern shaft seal ("Simmering") can only be fitted if the entire front housing and the oil pan has been removed.

I also used the ropes mentioned by Patrick. When installed correctly, they...

Re: Spring protect

Unfortunately, from here it looks a lot nastier: Brattons only gets $ 44.95. To be added Freight $ 64 + handling fee € 12.50 + customs clearance (also for freight!) +/- € 45 = all in all € 162.50!

Spring protect

Guten Abend!

I want to protect my new front spring from dirt. I don't like the plastic protective bags offered for this. So I'm considering wrapping around 5 " of thin leather around the spring...

Re: Bade brake performance

Thanks,

but I think it's a misunderstanding. I write it more simply.

When moving forward, the brakes only decelerate moderately.
If I drive backwards, they decelerate very strongly.

Bade brake performance

Good evening!

I have an oddity. I have installed new brake shoes, floaters, etc., but I am not really satisfied with the strength of the brakes and the poor feeding.

It is strange that...

Re: Shocks and springs

It's good that someone writes that leaf springs need to be lubricated! I have had many fruitless discussions with drivers who drove completely rusted springs and said this was because of "better...

Re: Shocks and springs

Mustang,

very often the old shock absorbers are rusted together inside. Right, if you loosen the shock absorber connectors on one ball/pan side, you will see the spring deflection. That should...

Re: Front spring broken

I wanted to buy the front spring according to Blue Print. However, it has a delivery time of 2 months. Therefore, as an exception, I opted the cheap "import variant".

What a creepy quality!

Re: Carburetor Reassembly

JD,

I use "Renolit VLS" from Fuchs-Oil-Company.
It is a very viscous grease that is not soluble in gasoline. A plug of this on the outside of the both shaft ends also prevents any air...

Re: Front spring broken

I carefully examined the cross members from all sides. The original is in very good condition, no rust, no warping.

What occurs to me that a harder suspension was wanted because of the 2/10 "...

Hello,

I have one more question. A cutted spring leaf about 12 " long has been (bad) welded into the top of the housing for the leaf spring - cross member-. 10 leafes were mounted.

I have no...

Re: Front spring broken

In this case I can no longer do this with build-up welding, because in the long past ago the steel sleeve was worn through deep into the perch to a length of more than 1/2 " ovality. Therefore I fill...
