Re: ANY 39 Mercury hubcap guru's or Ford guru's

Perhaps. Depending upon when the text was embossed during the manufacturing process, a smooth cap may have potentially required different tooling than the other two. Was the text stamped in the...

Re: ANY 39 Mercury hubcap guru's or Ford guru's

I suspect the plain cap is an aftermarket replacement cap that omitted the trademark to avoid licensing fees.

Does it have any manufacturer markings on the surfaces that would not be visible when...

Re: Harley Davidson low pressure brake light witch

Ditch the pressure switch and use a mechanically operated one. No more worrying about the switch leaking or needing to bleed the brakes when you replace it. There's a reason why OEMs stopped using...

Re: Change 12V Positive Ground to Negative ground

He's using the shape to determine if it's a generator or an alternator, which is a relatively reasonable thing to do unless it's one of the Powermaster units.

Re: Local Estate Auction 1935 Roadster Sells for $53,925.00

Yeah, some of those prices do seem low even for cars than need some finishing or TLC.

'29 Roadster for $5.5k
'38 Convertible Sedan for $9.3k
'40 Woody for $22.5k
'40 Club Convertible for $11k

Re: Flat head horde

When they die their engines will be scrapped.

Buy it now while you can. Time travel is not yet possible and nobody has the ability to see into the future.

Re: USPS strikes again destruction of packages

That box doesn't appear to be constructed of corrugated cardboard designed for shipping. I'd place the blame for that FUBAR on whomever shipped it.

Re: Flathead Machine shop in Kansas City area?

If all you need is a crack check and boring, then any competent engine machine shop can handle that work. There's nothing special about the flathead in that department.

Re: Patina or Paint?

A proper paint job is time consuming and expensive, and there's not much worse than a poorly done paint job.

Leave the patina.

Re: Deuceheaven Video by Mecum Auctions

I don't think that's actually the case. The terms and conditions provided on the auction registration form do not make any mention of such a policy.

They were obviously worth whatever they...

Re: How to repair damage to a deck

I'd take it to a machine shop that's experienced in welding cast iron, and then have the deck milled just enough to clean the surface up.

Regardless of what filler material you use, you'll need to...

Those "new" bolts also look like standard hardware store fasteners, not the appropriate...
