I live in a state that does not issue VIN plates like the one shown above.
I live in a state that does, however, require a “VIN inspection” wherein the number on the existing title must match the...

Re: Serial number size
The manufacturer’s manual states that the engine number is the serial number. The engine number is not legible, therefore the vehicle in effect has no serial number.
There’s the possibility that...

Re: Serial number size
This.
The bureaucracy of 2018 could not have been predicted in 1931. “Standardization” — in as much as it existed at the time — has changed.
I guess I didn’t realize that every Model A on the...

Re: Serial number size
Ordered! A little more expensive than McMaster, but accurate. Thanks, fellas.
I will soon have a “numbers matching” car. [emoji16]

Re: Serial number size
Yep, that’s the plan. It will all match when I arrive at the inspection station.
I haven’t verified the frame number. I imagine it’s also not legible and that’s a lot of work for potentially...

In Kentucky, a vehicle must pass a sheriff’s VIN inspection before a title can be issued.
I have the original title, last issued in 1964 in the state of West Virginia with the original serial...

Odd request, but bear with me.
I’m planning on restamping my block (needs to pass VIN inspection to get a Kentucky title). I want to get it done when I get back from holiday travel, but I forgot...

“Pap” is actually my grandfather. I sent the video of it running to my mom who showed it to him. She said he was really excited to hear it running! I’ll be up to see him at the end of the week....

She lives!
After a few snags, the ‘31 fired up today for the first time in about 15 years. The coolant system sprung some leaks (which I expected) and the head gasket appears to be toast. But by George, she...

Spark only when timing is fully advanced?
After a lot of troubleshooting to figure out why I wasn't getting spark on the Model A, I discovered that I CAN get spark, but only when the timing lever is fully advanced.
What would cause this?...

Re: Show me your terminal box
I didn’t install a fuse. Should I have?
When you say starter switch, are you talking about the ignition switch?
If you haven’t noticed, wiring is typically over my head. Doing my best.

Re: Show me your terminal box
Thanks. I’ll run through it again.
I HAD good connection/ground from the battery to the starter and the engine turned free, back before I had a functioning ignition system. Once I got that in,...

Show me your terminal box
One step forward, two steps back.
I’ve got power to some things (lights!), but the second I hit the starter my voltage drops through the floor. Starter barely turns and engine doesn’t start.
