Re: Harbor Freight tape measures come up short

I haven't noticed a problem with their tapes but I do like the little blue magnetic flashlights they give away. I have three stuck to the fridge.

Re: Garage heat

Ponderosa Pine chucked into my wood stove. Heats me several times... when I cut it, load it, split it, stack it and burn it.

Re: Barrett Jackson Scottsdale

It was a beautiful AA Mail Truck. I think it brought about 20K. Couldn't restore it for that.

Barrett Jackson Scottsdale

A model a sedan (might have been a fordor) sold yesterday on Barrett Jackson and they kept referring to it as a "Country Sedan". To the best of my recollection Ford didn't use that label until the...

Re: insurance

State Farm on everything from home to cars to life. No claims on Model A yet but very happy with other claims we've had to make.

Re: Model A car names

I call my '30 Town Sedan " George" for my good friend who owned it for many, many years. George and his college buddy landed a job one summer in the fifties on the Alaska Railroad and drove the car...

Re: A pic from the time

I'm a Shorpy addict. Not enough Model A's to suit me but enough old stuff to keep me looking. https://www.shorpy.com/node/1757

Re: Interesting Florida Restaurant

Did the one in Dearborn. Wish they would come West. Great hamburger and craft beer. No better atmosphere for a Model A'er.

Better to google "Foster Maneuver" and you will get some good videos.

Re: Strange Happenings health wise

I had on several occasions the same thing happen to me laying on my back under the Model A and the 53 Buick. Extreme dizziness but only when I was looking straight up. When I would roll over it...

Re: Mikes model A ford parts

Count me as a satisfied customer of Mike's for many years. First class operation IMO. When I finished my last restoration they even bought back a lot of unopened small parts.

Re: Carb leak

The needle and seat that Mac's and Snyder's has is for the original Zenith and won't work in the 13922 carb. I think I might have located one. Hope I can stop the drip. If not I'll just run it out...

Carb leak

While I was waiting for the parade to start yesterday I smelled gas and noticed a slow drip from the carb. No drip while running. It is the Zenith replacement carb 13922. I took it apart when I...

Re: Turn Signal ideas

Still 6v. I think I bought them at Tractor Supply. I blacked out part of the front ones just because......I liked the look on the front better.

Re: Schrader tire gauge repair

Great pictures Redbird. Now I can see how the thing works. Do you have any ideas on what you might use to replace that membrane?

Re: Schrader tire gauge repair

I didn't want to mess with that disc since I didn't think I would be able to replace it but I'm thinking my problem might be under there also. A rebuild kit for these would be the answer but for a...

Re: Schrader tire gauge repair

Mine is like the upper one in Redbirds post. The sliding scale is free but it didn't work so I decided to try to replace the gasket material where it contacts the tire Schrader valve. I dug the old...

Re: Ford Tri-Motor

On second thought I think the one on skis was a Fokker tri-motor named for Josephine Ford.

Re: Ford Tri-Motor

I saw the Byrd expedition tri-motor at the Henry Ford last summer. I was thinking it was fitted with skis.

Re: What strange comments or questions have you heard about your Model A

My grandkids wondered how to get the windows down (no electric switch). The most common one for me is "do you have to use a crank to start it?" And, of course, "you can have any color you want as...

Re: OK! Let's get personal!

I, and my 1930 Town Sedan, which I was able to restore when I was in my sixties, were both born in the decade of the '30s. I barely made it (1939).
