The "gold" transmission is '36 pickup era and may have a 14T input which would make it a low geared transmission in 1st and 2nd. Count the teeth before you proceed just to know for sure what you have...

I'd be suspect of the end play on the cluster gear, I do a dry fit with all related parts clean, drop the cluster in the case with the 2 thrust washers and measure the end play. Not all rear thrusts...

‘50/‘51 Mercury water pumps

‘50/‘51 Mercury narrow belt water pump cores, good pulleys, pumps turn, pump necks not rusty. These are good cores to rebuild as the pumps are not reproduced. Price is $75 shipped in the lower 48....

The later 16T input is approximately 1/16 larger dia on the gear OD than it's earlier Ford counter part.

And do not mix those gears with the earlier 36-48 car and 36-50 pickup gearsets, different pitch on the teeth.

For brake parts I'd suggest James at Gotham Auto parts in NY, Fred at Southside Obsolete in MN and Bill or John at All Ford Parts in Campbell CA. Good luck

If all of the teeth are helical cut you have the correct part number for the cluster gear (cone gear as you say).

Ford offered several available transmissions in the commercial lineup. Yes, it could be a ‘39 type with all helical cut gears, or a “heavy duty” type with a larger main shaft and straight cut low...
