Useful for supplying 18/26 or 19/25 gearsets!

Re: Transmission Countershaft and Bearings Question

NOS or good used bearings are perfectly adequate. Check condition of rollers, check for racking and check for hardened end plates.

If the caged rollers give you the heebie jeebies then source...

Re: Transmission Countershaft and Bearings Question

Don’t think the cluster is machined to accommodate that

Re: Need cluster gear idntification

4 slots is 68-7113. 2 prongs is 8M-7113. They are interchangeable but require different thrust washers. 68-7113 takes a one piece thrust washer in back called 68-7129-B. 8M-7113 takes a two piece...

Re: Transmission Main Shaft ID Needed

I think you’re ok there. The MDG with the small cone is used with early synchronizer, stock applications from ‘32 to early ‘39. The other is stock for ‘39-50 - the traditional ‘39 style...

Re: Transmission Main Shaft ID Needed

Sounds good, 81A (or 8M) it is!

Re: Transmission Main Shaft ID Needed

Just a word of caution when looking at a 16T main drive gear of unknown origin - it could be a 1C rather than an 81A. If 1C it must be paired with the later gears that come in the open drive...

Re: 1941 Transmission Gearset Tricks?

I have never heard - or observed - the 15/29 set to be weaker, so I am curious to hear as well.

Re: Larry Patton auction in Springfield, Ohio

‘32 rolling chassis was $4,500. I think one of the ‘32 roadster projects went just over $20K and the other was around 15K. Some parts low, some high. There was a lot more than the pictures show...

Re: Transmission Roller Bearings- condition?

Check end plates with a file to be sure they are hardened. Twist the bearing to be sure there is no rocking.

Re: 1932 Shift Levers

I have cleaned a lot of these, can’t remember if they have part #s on the stub? Maybe some? I will check that next time I’m in the shop

Re: 1932 Shift Levers

Well I don’t know about the ‘32s. Some helpful info already. Not sure about ‘33-34, but sure the lever hasn’t been modified. I looked at both the ‘32 book and the ‘33-34 book and this seems to be...

Re: 1932 Shift Levers

I have 2 or 3 levers that are EXACTLY like the one on the far right so I am pretty sure it hasn’t been modified. Think it is ‘33-34

1932 Shift Levers

I have read everything I could get my hands on and still have a lot of questions about shift levers in 1932. It appears there are 3-4 different versions but I don’t know if there is any chronology...

Re: 1933 Model B and V8 drivetrain differences.

512276 512277

’33-34 has the notches on the sides. ‘33-34 will work for ‘32, but not the other way round.

Apology accepted DavidG, I know you are a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate your...

Re: 1933 Model B and V8 drivetrain differences.

Very slight difference in ‘32 B & ‘33-34 B transmission cases, has to do with clearance for steady rods I believe.

Re: Shift levers ?

Another reason the 3rd lever looks ‘32ish to me is in the picture it looks about the same length as the ‘35s. A commercial lever (‘40-52) would have a similar bend but is much longer. Things I’ve...

Re: Shift levers ?

I could be wrong, need to measure to be sure. Tell tale sign is the short ones are a little crooked looking at the tip just before the ball

Re: Shift levers ?

Bottom one is V8-60. Top three all have short stubs for ‘32-35 towers.

Re: No Bueno Shifto

Hey Tim,

The 48-7017 & 81A-7017 main drive gears are both 16T but they do NOT interchange - even if the synchro sleeve slips on. The cones are different, 81A is much taller and designed to work...
